BLOG TOUR REVIEW: Vas by K. Webster & Ker Dukey

Vas
by K. Webster & Ker Dukey
Publication Date: January 7, 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Dark, Mafia, Romance
Read for FREE in KindleUnlimited: Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon CA | Amazon AU

Synopsis:
The Volkov name is one I longed for.
Their household is one I grew up in, but not as an equal—as a maid’s son.
This didn’t stop me from becoming a man to be reckoned with.
But even with my rightful name finally given to me, I still feel adrift.
Until her.

Everything I did was for acceptance.
Everything I lost brought me to my family.
To this life.
To her.

I fought for my status.
I fought for my sisters.
And I will fight to the death for my angel.

She has shown me there is light in our pitch-black world.
That the stars can’t shine without the darkness of night.
She is the stars, and I am the sky in which she shines.

There is evil lurking in the shadows we create.
The corruption and depravities of the First Families have become toxic and are infecting us all from within.
Games have been played, and now, they must end.

I am Vas.
Vocal. Voracious. Vindictive. Volkov.
A devil in love with an angel, and together, we’re going to rule Hell on Earth.

Sonja's Review

I have been on a reading hiatus for most of this month preparing for the holidays and what not, so I’d been jonesing for any book to read when I decided to re-read the very first Lora Leigh Breed book and I had been planning to read the next book after that and then I turned on my kindle. And what should be there but mothereffing VAS — the third book in K. Webster and Ker Dukey’s amazing The V Games series! All my Breed book plans went straight out the window and I started that sucker as soon as I could because I have been dying for Vas’ story ever since the end of Ven’s book and what a story it was!

Vas was electric, sinful, sweet, and dangerous. It made my heart pound and ache and melt. It got my blood pumping, captured me, and took me on a wild, twisting, exhilarating ride! I could not get enough of the action, passion, and especially the love between Vas and Darya. It was beautiful and sweet, fierce and unbreakable. Everything about Vas was just top flight from the story to the characters — just everything. I wholeheartedly loved this book and Ms. Dukey and Ms. Webster, I NEED a book for Alyona and all and anyone who comes with her!

Synopsis:
The Vetrov name comes with expectation.
My role in this world is simple: do as Father asks and live my life how he planned it.

My future is already written: run the empire.
Old Values. Old Rule. Old Money.
Until her.

Everything I do lacks purpose.
Everything I do is empty.
Women. Money. Power. It meant nothing.
Until her.

When the Volkov rose showed up at my home a disgraced package, hand-delivered by a Vasiliev prince, I began paving my own path.
I vowed to make her bloom once more.

She consumed me.
Her. Her. Her.

But you can’t love a rose and expect not to be damaged by her thorns.
She cut me too deep.
And I bled out.
My soul fled.
All that’s left is a cold, calculating monster.

I am Veniamin.
Volcanic. Victorious. Valiant. Vetrov.
When you enter my world to play games, prepare to lose.
In the end, I always find the thorn in my side, and I pluck it right out.

Synopsis:
Everything I do has purpose. Everything I do has reason. Until her.

The Vasiliev name is a powerful one.
We rule with an iron fist and we do it well.
Being the eldest, I am Father’s best hope at keeping us at the top of the food chain.

Everything I do has purpose.
Everything I do has reason.
Until her.

I play my games thinking several moves ahead.
Power. Power. Power.
Until her.

The next move requires I marry and soon.
This will strengthen us and secure our position.
But I am not to marry her.

I am to wed the eldest Volkov.
Problem is, her younger sister is the one who awakens my dead heart.
It is her I want in my bed and by my side forever.
Her. Her. Her.

In this game, though, it’s not about what I want.
But maybe it can be about what she wants.

I am Vlad.
Vile. Vicious. Villainous. Vasiliev.
And I will win eventually.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected. I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up. My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling. When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

Sonja’s Review

Wow, it has been so long since I’ve read Kiersten Fay and I can’t believe that I haven’t picked her up again sooner since I loved her Shadow Quest series so much, but now that I’ve read The Vampire’s Masquerade, I excited to read more! This book though, was sooooooo gooooood — I absolutely, positively LOVED it! I’ve been in such a book funk for awhile, but The Vampire’s Masquerade kept my attention the whole through — I never wanted to put it down. I wanted to get back to it whenever I did have to though and there was more than one time when I continued reading when I needed to stop because... life. So it’s safe to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

The Vampire’s Masquerade was exciting, steamy, and entertaining. It squeezed my heart, made me rant a little and shake my head, and it made me laugh a lot. It was such a fun, heart pounding story and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Creatures of Darkness books!

REVIEW & PRE-ORDER: The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Title: The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Author: Sally Thorne
Publisher: William Morrow
Publication Date: August 9, 2016

Synopsis:
Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.

                       2) A person’s undoing

                       3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

Snippet:
"Shortcake, if we were flirting you’d know about it."
"Because I’d be traumatized?"
"Because you’d be thinking about it later on, lying in bed."
"Been imagining my bed, have you?"
"I bet it’s a very small bed."

Sonja’s Review

My friend messaged me raving about this book and politely, but firmly suggested that I should read it and since we have similar tastes in books, I thought I would give The Hating Game a shot — plus I have a serious weakness for the enemies-to-lovers plot line, so it was no huge sacrifice. As I began reading it, I could understand why my friend was taken with this amazing story Ms. Thorne has created. It is engaging, humorous, and highly entertaining. The Hating Game is a delicious slow burn that will have you eagerly turning the pages, devouring all the words, and will feed your love love/hating relationship soul.

REVIEW: Remembrance by Meg Cabot

Title: Remembrance
Author: Meg Cabot

Series: The Mediator, 7
Publisher: Avon
Publication Date: February 2, 2018

Synopsis:
You can take the boy out of the darkness.

But you can’t take the darkness out of the boy.

All Susannah Simon wants is to make a good impression at her first job since graduating from college (and since becoming engaged to Dr. Jesse de Silva).

But when she’s hired as a guidance counselor at her alma mater, she stumbles across a decade-old murder, and soon ancient history isn’t all that’s coming back to haunt her. Old ghosts as well as new ones are coming out of the woodwork, some to test her, some to vex her, and it isn’t only because she’s a mediator, gifted with second sight.

From a sophomore haunted by the murderous specter of a child, to ghosts of a very different kind—including Paul Slater, Suze’s ex, who shows up to make a bargain Suze is certain must have come from the Devil himself—Suze isn’t sure she’ll make it through the semester, let alone to her wedding night.

Suze is used to striking first and asking questions later. But what happens when ghosts from her past—including one she found nearly impossible to resist—strike first?

What happens when old ghosts come back to haunt you?

Sonja’s Review

I cannot begin to tell you how ecstatic I was when I found out that Ms. Cabot had written a new book in The Mediator series that featured Susannah Simon completely all grown up and adulting! Oooh, I found The Mediator books when I was in middle school and it has always been my favorite series of hers — I just love and adore it! And then, of course, it took me forever to actually start reading Remembrance and then forever to finish it, but that was mostly because I didn’t want this little reunion (pun not intended) to ever be over. It really was a reunion, I loved revisiting Suze and Jesse and everyone — just being back in Suze Simon’s world was wonderful and I loved every second of it!

Remembrance was new and familiar all at the same time. There’s shenanigans, crazy antics, villains, and that same old humor. Jesse and Suze have some obstacles to face, but their connection is just as strong and true as ever — they’re solid and you never have to doubt them. I’m a little sad to say goodbye to Remembrance and these characters, but I sure had a great time seeing them again — I absolutely adored this book!
