RELEASE DAY BLITZ REVIEW: Clam Jam by RC Boldt

rc-boldt

Synopsis

“Clam Jam”

Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.

Example: You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.

Maggie

That’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.

Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me.

Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.

Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?

Fact: My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.

Ry

The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.

So I had to go “undercover”.

Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.

Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.

Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.

Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.

The me that loves her.

The me that would never do her wrong.

Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.

Until then, I’ll continue to Clam Jam.

Sonja's Review

The cover was the first thing that drew my interest to Clam Jam, but I didn't check it out right away because I've been cutting back on my blog books and also the fact that covers have gotten me before and haven't always ended leaving me with  a good experience. I was scrolling along in an email, though, and I saw it again, but this time I saw a bit of the synopsis too and it immediately grabbed me! It was funny and intriguing and oh, I just could NOT wait read it! I checked my kindle a million times to see if it showed up and of course when it did, me being the freak that I am, I waited until the evening to read it. I hoped going into Clam Jam that it was going to be as good as I was expecting and it was so much better!

Oh, Mags, you got to love the girl! She's funny and sweet and kind and genuine. She's so considerate, caring, and giving - especially with Ry. Mags is always there for him, she believes in him and trusts him and she'd do anything for him. Mags has a heart of gold and I loved her for that and a whole lot more!

And Ry is d*mn near perfect! He's sweet and thoughtful and for the most part always says or does the right thing to make everything better. Mags is his whole world and there's not a thing that she asked him to do that he wouldn't do for her. I wish the man would have come clean sooner, but everyone has their flaws, this was just his. I completely loved Ry though, he's wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing about him!

Clam Jam was the perfect book to end the year and also start the new year at the same time! It was so funny and entertaining and made me laugh and smile a lot, but it wasn't just all fun and games though. It made my heart hurt, it frustrated me and made my want to yell and shake some sense into some people, and it made me face palm and shake my head too. I'm not going to lie, it was hard to read sometimes, but the positives far outweigh the negatives and it was truly all worth it in the end. Clam Jam was specmazing (and yes, I know that's not a word but I'm making it up - it's spectacular and amazing, just in case you missed it and this will totally made sense when you read this book, which you absolutely, most definitely should do!) and I loved, loved, LOVED IT!

Clam Jam is a standalone, it's told from Ry and Mags' POV, and their happy ending will have you grinning like a fool!

Sonja's Review

So, this is a new author to me and I was really impressed... don't let the title fool you. This isn't your average-run-of-the-mill Billionaire and Virgin book. This is about a very strong-willed homeless girl and the privileged man that has the power to change her life.

I really enjoyed reading about Mia and Xander... they really were perfect for each other. They both had their own demons they were battling, but they managed to overcome the odds to be together.

Mia was not a trusting person but she was determined to find a way to make a life for herself and I loved that about her. I also loved how Xavier basically swept her off her feet and made it clear he was going to keep her. Even though he needed to be knocked over the head at one point, it all ended up perfectly!

The Billionaire's Virgin is two of my favorite things when it comes to what I read and that is that it's a very safe read and that I get my HEA ending. So, you can bet that I will be looking forward to more books by Jackie Ashenden.

About the Author:
Jackie has been writing fiction since she was eleven years old. Mild mannered fantasy/SF/pseudo-literary writer by day, obsessive romance writer by night, she used to balance her writing with the more serious job of librarianship until a chance meeting with another romance writer prompted her to throw off the shackles of her day job and devote herself to the true love of her heart – writing romance. She particularly likes to write dark, emotional stories with alpha heroes who’ve just got the world to their liking only to have it blown wide apart by their kick-ass heroines.

She lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband, the inimitable Dr Jax, two kids, two cats and some guppies (possibly dead guppies by the time you read this). When she’s not torturing alpha males and their stroppy heroines, she can be found drinking chocolate martinis, reading anything she can lay her hands on, posting random crap on her blog, or being forced to go mountain biking with her husband.

Sonja's Review

I don't read ménage romances very often, but I recently read another one of Ms. Fox's novellas and I really enjoyed it, so I just said, "What the heck, why not?" and decided to pick Seduction up. And I'm so glad that I did because I loved it! It was fantastic and I can't wait to read more of these Bayfront Billionaires

I really liked Lily - she's sweet, professional, and so poised. She might come from a long line of butlers and be one herself, but that doesn't make her any less elegant, sophisticated, or classy than any of the people she serves. Lily is responsible, she's driven, and she's so passionate about not only Lex and Jax, but their music as well. She's so great and I adored her!

One of my best book friends loves ménage romances, she reads them all the time, and I recently read one of her reviews about one and in it she explained that usually one of the men is the lighter, more playful and easygoing one while the other is the dark, brooding, more alpha-like one and boy, oh, boy, was she right! Lex is definitely the lighter one. He's soft and gentle, sensitive and sweet, but he's still got that strong alpha-male thing going on just not as much as Jax. I loved him exactly the way he is though - Lex is just wonderful!

I probably shouldn't be able to choose who I love more between Jax and Lex, but there's just something about Jax that gets me and I have to say that he's my favorite. He has the brooding thing down and that's part of it, but mostly I think I love him so much just because of how intense he is! Jax is fierce and passionate, a little rough and untamed - he's so sexy and manly and he just completely stole my heart!

Seduction definitely has its steamy moments, but it's so much more than just a naughty, smutty romance. It's full of heartache, beauty, passion, and love. It will make you smile and it will make your heart ache not will warm it too. Seduction was lovely, magical, and I enjoyed it so much!

Seduction is a standalone, it's told from Jax, Lex, and Lily's POV, and they all get their happy ending.

“But breathing you in, thinking of your taste, overpowers all the pain.”

Aw, damn. She bit her lip to keep from melting in her seat.

“So, you’re saying I’m like morphine?”

“You are a powerful drug, baby, and I’m completely addicted.”

Sonja's Review

It has been too long since I've read Milly Taiden, so when I had the chance to read Bearly in Control, I pounced on it! I was so excited to read it not only because she wrote it, but also because I love my bear shifters and I was so looking forward to meeting Barry. The book and the man himself did in no way disappoint me - I completely loved them both!

Charli is a total bada*s and I have to say it, even though it feels a little weird to, but she's even more of a bada*s than Barry. She's strong, independent, and she can take of herself and Barry too. That doesn't mean that Charli is all hard and rigid though, just the opposite really. She's sweet, compassionate, and caring. Charli has a heart of gold and I loved everything about her!

Barry might not be the toughest hero you've ever read about, but that doesn't mean that he's not strong or that he's a sissy. Yes, he's sweet, but he's protective, possessive, and commanding too. Barry is sexy, thoughtful, and so lovable - I know I sure did!

Bearly in Control wasn't much of a mystery to me, but I really enjoyed where the story took us. It was definitely intriguing and I'm excited to figure out some of the things that were unanswered and where the next book takes us. As for this book itself, though, it was steamy, funny, playful, and full of action, danger, and heart. It was a fantastic read and I can't wait to read more about these characters!

Bearly in Control is a standalone, it's told from multiple points of view, and Barry and Charli do get a happy ending, but if you're like me, I know you'll be wanting more!

Sonja's Review

I was already excited to read Schooled by a Senior because of who wrote it, but when I saw a teaser for it yesterday, I just couldn't wait to get started on it, even though I was already reading something else! It was even better than I was expecting and I'm glad I decided not to wait to start it any longer. Schooled by a Senior was positively excellent and I just loved, loved, loved it!

Maise might not be the strongest heroine in the beginning, but the more into the book you get, she becomes her own strong person. She's sweet and nice, but also a little sassy and a bit of a bad girl - but only for Aut. Maise is wonderful and warm and I really loved her!

And Aut - man, that Senior totally stole my heart! He's exactly my kind of hero with all his possessive/protectiveness, dirty talking going on. Yes, he has moments where he's so not nice and he might not be a perfect gentleman, but he's sweet to Maise and he truly cares about her. Aut treats her right, he cares about her, and he loves her. I completely loved him and I know he'll steal your heart like he did mine!

I don't know what is about Ms. Webster's short stories, but I absolutely LOOOOOVE them! They're full of so much heart and life, especially Schooled by a Senior. It's sexy and full of passion and naughtiness, but it has beauty and a little heartbreak too. It was so fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Schooled by a Senior is a standalone, it's told from Aut and Maise's POV, and their happy ending left me with great big old smile on my face!

RELEASE SERIES REVIEW: The Careless Whispers Series by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: Surrender

But even though he has become her anchor—helping her recover from amnesia after finding her unconscious in an alley, and allowing her into his secret world—all is not what it seems. Kayden still has secrets, and pieces of Ella's past are still shrouded in the darkness of her mind, while the powerful man who hunts her will not stop until she is his. Sonja's Review

I can't believe Ella and Kayden's story is over and that we finally have all answers! I have to admit that I'm glad there's no more secrets or mysteries, but I will definitely miss those two. Surrender was worth the wait and I positively loved it!

I'm only going to dedicate one paragraph to both Ella and Kayden because the way I felt about them didn't really change that much. They are both still their good, strong, bada*s selves, although sometimes I wished Ella wouldn't be so honorable and be more selfish, but then she wouldn't be her and I wouldn't want that. So while I may have wanted to shake her once or twice, I didn't lose any of the love I had for her and speaking of love - I just fell even more in love with Kayden! The man is seriously amazing, they both are really - and oh, I'm going to miss them so much!

Surrender was one those books that I wanted to rush through to get to the end to find everything out, see justice served, and of course, most importantly, see Ella and Kayden finally get their true happily-ever-after ending, but at the same time, I didn't want to get to the end because then that would mean no more Kayden or Ella. I couldn't tear myself away or go slower though because I just had to know where that necklace was and who Ella was. There were things that shocked me and some things that didn't at all - Surrender was fast-paced, twisty and turn-y, sexy, a little heartache-y, and heart pounding. It was the perfect book to end the series and I loved it with all my heart!

Surrender is third and final book in the Careless Whispers series and must be read after the first two books, it's told mostly from Ella's POV, but we do hear from Sara a few times, and Ella and Kayden's happy ending was beautiful and wonderful and heartwarming!

Sonja's Review

I knew Denial was going to be a cliffhanger, but even knowing that, it still got to me! Oh, it was just downright evil, but not the type of evil that made me angry, just the type that had me shaking my head and smiling. It was an interesting, exciting journey full of twists and turns that captured my attention and barely refused to ever let go.

Denial is only told from Ella's POV, so didn't connect with Kayden as much as I might with the hero usually and I can't say for sure that I've fallen in love him yet, but I'm sure that I will because he's definitely lovable and there are already things I love about him! I love how dominant, possessive, and protective he is, but mostly I love how playful, mischievous, and teasing he can be. Kayden might drive me a little crazy sometimes, but he's a great hero and I can't wait to see him again!

I haven't read Ms. Jones' Inside Out series yet, but after spending an entire book with Ella, I can understand why so many were eager to hear her story! Ella is strong, she's a fighter, and she's a total bada*s! I just don't know how else to describe her or at least how to describe her and do her justice. Ella is a completely unique heroine and I absolutely, wholeheartedly LOVED her!!

Ms. Jones tells a gripping story that will seduce you, fill you with anticipation, and leave you wanting more! It is a sexy, steamy ride with danger, mystery, and secrets that will have you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing. Denial is an amazing read and I positively loved it!!

Sonja's Review

Well, I was all prepared for Demand to end in a cliffhanger that was going to make me growl and yell, but Ms. Jones was actually nice to us this time with the ending (I say that with love)! Now, don't get me wrong I still can't wait to read Surrender, but I don't feel like I'm going to go crazy or that I have to rush this review, so I can get started on it right away. I get to take my time and enjoy writing about this truly excellent read that I completely loved!

Well, now I'm torn here because I was just looking at my review for Denial and I usually write about my favorite character for last and for Demand, I was going to talk about Kayden after Ella, but then I saw I put him first before and so now I'm not sure who is my favorite. And if you're feeling confused after reading that, then I understand because I'm confused just writing it. I don't know, I'm might just go with ladies first because honestly, I loved both of them more than I did before and I can't say who I do love more. Okay, so I'm going to talk about Ella first then.

I said that Ella was bada*s in my Denial review and at the risk of sounding redundant and too praiseworthy - I have to say that she's an ever bigger bada*s than I thought! She's so strong and brave and fierce and loyal. Ella's is wholeheartedly in love with Kayden and she's very protective of him. I can't think of anything that I didn't love about her - she's just an amazing heroine that does everyone proud!

Well, I am happy to say that even though, for some reason of which I have no idea why, it's probably just because I'm crazy, I hadn't fallen for Kayden before, I can say without a doubt that I am totally in love with him now! Kayden is so sweet and devoted to Ella. He's protective and possessive and patient and supportive. Kayden always tries to reassure Ella that he's not going anywhere and that no matter what the future brings, he will never stop fighting for her and that nothing could ever change the way he feels about her. Kayden is absolutely wonderful and while he might not have had my heart originally - it is definitely all his now!

I don't think Demand is quite as suspenseful as Denial, but it is certainly more enlightening. We're learning more about Ella and she's slowly getting her memories back and that just makes it even more exciting. I was completely captured in Ella and Kayden's story and there were times when I never wanted to stop reading and I turned the pages as fast as I could to find out what was going to happen next. Demand was demanding, beautiful and still full of mystery, questions, and anticipation. It was marvelous and I can't wait to get started on Surrender and get all the answers for those burning questions we still have!

Demand is the second book in the Careless Whispers series and it must be read after Denial, it's still only told from Ella's POV, and Ella, Kayden, and the story itself, ends in a good place.

Lydia's Review

All you have to say is Lora Leigh and I am all over the book. Normally, I love everything she writes and I love this series, but with this book I have mixed feelings. Intense Pleasure is about CIA operative Summer, who is basically burned out from her job and walks away for a normal life. The two heroes in this story, Raeg and Falcon, both want her and when they find out that she is in danger - it gives them the opening they need to move in on her.

Now this book had hot sex and suspense which is a trademark for this series. It's also two of the things that make me love it. As far as character development goes I wasn't completely sold on it. I really wanted to see Summer as a real kicka*s heroine, but I feel like she fell short of the mark.

Falcon came across as the weaker of the two men. Normally with a ménage story you have one man that is the stern, brooding type and one man that is the softer, more romantic type. I would have loved to see just a little more strength from Falcon. Now Raeg is the one that rubbed me the wrong way. He came across as a bit of a harda*s to me as far as Summer was concerned and I felt like she just kept taking it instead of putting him in his place at least once.

So I'm basically on the fence with this. Do I wish we had been given a little bit more in this story? Yes. But Lora does give us enough of the hot sex and suspense to draw the story out.

Intense Pleasure could be considered a standalone, but me, personally, I would read previous books the fully understand this story.
