COVER REVEAL/SERIES REVIEW: Dark in You Series by Suzanne Wright

Title: Shadows
Author: Suzanne Wright
Series: Dark in You, #5
Publisher: Piatkus
Publication Date: July 30, 2019

Synopsis:
A match made in hell?
Devon and Tanner fight like… well, cats and dogs. Which, to be fair, makes sense since hellcats and hellhounds aren’t exactly a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, their demons’ antipathy towards each other is matched only by the red-hot sexual tension between Tanner and Devon. It’s driving them – and their long-suffering friends Harper and Knox – mad.

When Devon is nearly kidnapped, Tanner’s protective instincts kick into overdrive – he’s sticking by her side, day and night. But staying so close means their hunger can no longer be denied – they know their demons won’t accept the match, but after one red-hot night they’ll fight to stay together for as long as they can. But shadows are gathering around them - Devon’s would-be kidnapper is still on the loose, a serial killer carrying rage from a twisted past threatens the lair – and most of all, Tanner and Devon are losing themselves to the heat between them . . . when this relationship goes up in flames, it could be a blaze that neither of them can walk away from . . .

The Dark in You Series

Book One

Title: Burn
Publication Date: November 26, 2015

Synopsis:
The first book in Suzanne Wright's bestselling witty, paranormal romance series, Dark in You.

Part of a small demon lair in Las Vegas, tattooist Harper Wallis lives a pretty simple life. That changes overnight when she discovers that her psychic mate, or 'anchor', is a guy who's rumoured to be the most powerful demon in existence. Compelling, full of secrets and armed with raw sexuality, Knox Thorne is determined to claim her as his anchor, creating a psychic bond that will prevent their inner demons from ever turning rogue.

The billionaire also wants Harper in his bed.

She's not so sure she wants either of those things. No one seems to know what breed of demon Knox is, only that he's more dangerous than anything she's ever before encountered. But he refuses to walk away. And when an unknown danger starts closing in on Harper, it seems that Knox is the only one who can keep her safe.

As Prime of his Las Vegas lair and a successful businessman, Knox Thorne is used to being in control. He's also used to people fearing and obeying him. Harper does neither, which unexpectedly amuses him. Unpredictable, elusive and complex, she draws Knox and his inner demon like nothing ever has.

Knox is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Harper. He'll have her, and he'll keep her safe from the threat that looms over her. Because Knox protects what's his. He won't allow anyone to take her from him. Even if it will mean letting the demon inside him rise and wreak the havoc it was created to make.

Sonja’s Review

Man, I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out of Suzanne Wright books to read while I’m waiting for any new ones to come out. She like sky-rocketed into becoming one of my favorite authors — seriously, are you looking at me — she did it that fast. It doesn’t matter what kind of mood I’m in, I could always go for another one of her stories and I constantly have to stop myself from re-reading her Phoenix Pack and Mercury Pack series and trust me — it’s not easy. Anyway, I was being really fussy about what to read next, I wanted a dark, possessive, alpha hero and so I just thought, what the hey, I’ll read Burn and I’m so glad that I did because it flipping amazeballs! It was even better than I was expecting and I wholeheartedly looooooooved it!

I can’t even tell you who I loved more between Knox and Harper, so I think we’ll just talk about ladies first and what a woman Harper is! She is a complete and total boss. Harper is independent, stubborn, and fierce. She never backs down from Knox and she definitely keeps him on his toes. Harper is strong, confident, calm, and she has a core of steel. She’ll do what she has to protect those she cares about, but she also has a soft, good heart. Harper is incredible and I absolutely loved her!

I wanted a dark, possessive alpha and Knox more than delivered that for me. In fact, he was all that and more. He’s extremely protective and determined and caring. Knox would do anything for Harper — she’s his entire world. While he’s hard and dark, Knox softens for Harper, he relaxes, smiles, teases and finds a little of the light with her. Knox is every bit of a boss and I loved him every bit as much too.

I loved Burn from the moment I started reading and it only grew the more I read. It was intriguing, awesome, and entertaining. It was full of passion and heat, action and mystery, and some heartache and epicness. It was outstanding and I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book or any that come after that one!

Burn is the first book in the Dark in You series, it’s told from Knox and Harper’s POV, and they do end on a happy note.

Book Two

Title: Blaze
Publication Date: September 1, 2016

Synopsis:
For those who need more Harper and Knox . . . there's Blaze!

Defeat the enemy. Win the boy. Live happily ever after.

But life "ever after" isn't as easy as it used to be. Harper's gone from being a member of a small demon lair to co-Prime of one of the most powerful lairs in the US with a mate who, though hot as hell, is just a mite overprotective - I mean, you get kidnapped by dark practitioners just once . . .

Then one of Knox's demons goes rogue, and in his madness decides Knox Thorne must die.

Harper's worried. Knox isn't - at least until he discovers his mate's willingness to get between him and danger. Now, Knox has a new priority: Keep Harper safe . . . no matter what it takes.

But Harper begins to suspect there's more danger than one rogue demon. It seems the combined strength of Harper and Knox has upset the balance of power in the demon world and there are those who are determined to right that wrong.
Because when you move up the food chain, sometimes the other predators just want to take a bigger bite.

Sonja’s Review

I had to wait a little while before I could read Blaze, but it was very much worth the wait. It was even better than Burn and and Burn was amazeballs, so you know Blaze was good. In fact, it was absolutely marvelous and I positively loved it!

What can I say about Knox and Harper other than I loved them even more than I did before! They are both total bad-rhymes-with-sass bosses. They’re fierce, protective, possessive, and the bomb. I love them so much on their own and as a couple — they’re just the best.

Blaze was full of fire, passion, sweetness and love. It was beyond interesting, captivating, and exciting. It made me laugh, smile, and melt — I had a wonderful time reading Blaze. I loved it as much as I loved Burn and I cannot wait to read Ashes next!

Blaze is the second book in the Dark in You series and should be read after Burn. It’s told from Knox and Harper’s POV and they’re better than ever.

Book Three

Title: Ashes
Publication Date: July 4, 2017

Synopsis:
Knox and Harper's story continues as the Las Vegas lair - and its two infamous Co-Primes - face their most terrifying enemy yet . . .

They're looking forward to some well-earned downtime - until Harper is attacked by mercenaries in the middle of her tattoo shop. Worse still, the attackers are trying to take her wings - the ones no one is meant to know she even has.

It's a near miss and once a furious Knox has managed to pull his demon back into line there's only one thing clear - someone knows Harper's secrets and is systematically setting out to destroy her. It seems likely that someone is the third Horseman - but how do they know so much about Harper? It seems the impossible might be true - they have an enemy hiding at the very heart of the lair.

To survive Harper will need to embrace power that's darker than she's ever experienced and even Knox can't protect her from everything - though God knows nothing's going to stop him trying. Sonja’s Review

I dove into Ashes as soon as I was able to after finishing Blaze and once again, Ms. Wright was able to top the previous book with the latest one in the Dark in You series! Ashes was just everything and more — I completely loved it. Ashes was utterly wonderful and I just can't get enough of this series!

I didn't think it was possible to love Knox and Harper anymore than I already do, but they proved me wrong. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because they are just an amazing couple and amazing people. Their love for each other is so deep and consuming and beautiful, you can feel it with every interaction and in every page. I can’t wait to read the secondary characters' books when it comes time for them, but I’ll admit it’s going to be hard not being in Knox and Harper’s heads, they’ll always be in my heart.

There were ways in which Ashes didn’t surprise me at all and then there were the times when it totally caught me off guard. Ashes was thrilling, endearing, and kept me on my toes — I never wanted to stop reading. It was beyond sweet, heartwarming, and full of love. I can’t tell you how much I loved it and I can’t wait to read Embers and see what happens next!

Ashes should be read after Burn and then Blaze, it’s told from Harper and Knox’s POV and they have a fantastic ending in this book.

Sonja’s Review

Ohhhh! I can’t believe that Embers was the last book with Knox and Harper as the main characters in the Dark in You series and that we finally have all the answers to the questions that have accumulated from the first three books! And on the one hand, I’m so happy that it has all been resolved, but on the other hand, I’m also a little bit sad because I’m really going to miss being inside this pair’s heads, they’re just amazing characters and their love and relationship is so wonderful, you just can’t not help but love them. I swear I have loved them more with each book and Embers was no exception — their last book was perfect and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it!

Embers was just as exciting and fresh as Burn, it never felt old or tired or boring. It was full of sexy times, heart squeezing and heartwarming moments, and badsassery. It was entertaining, funny, and I loved every minute of Embers. It kept me guessing, kept my mind racing, and had me flipping those pages as fast as I could. It was the best and I absolutely CANNOT wait to read this awesome group of secondary characters’ stories!
