BLOG TOUR REVIEW: 13 by Rhonda James

Today we have the blog tour of 13 by Rhonda James! We are so excited to share this sexy new romance with you! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Title: 13

Author: Rhonda James

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About 13:

“Fake it till you make it.”

A notion I once considered utterly ridiculous. Until one crazy night with a mysterious man resulted in a social media frenzy that had the entire entertainment industry talking.

Seems a fake marriage was just what my career needed to make Hollywood come knocking.

Convincing him to continue the charade was almost too easy. The chemistry between us made it impossible to keep my hands to myself. But it was all just pretend, right? Love was never in the script.

That is, until he re-wrote it.

13 Reasons You Should Stay:
  1. I’m crazy about you
  2. I make you laugh
  3. You totally dig me

Exclusive Excerpt:

The first thing I noticed were his eyes. Bottle green with the tiniest flecks of copper scattered throughout, and when the light hit them just right, those flecks sparkled in the most intriguing way. His shaggy caramel-blond hair stuck up in all directions, as if he’d been running his fingers through it all day, and the longer I stared, the more I found myself wanting to do the same thing. Tattoos circled both of his wrists, and his ears were pierced and adorned in black onyx. He had a smile that could simultaneously melt your heart and panties. Everything about him screamed male model, and if he wasn’t, then he sure as hell should be. He was that gorgeous. The bar was packed, and he was seated close. So close his muscular thigh pressed tightly against mine, making it impossible to ignore his presence. Not that I wanted to or anything.
By the time I finished examining him, I looked up and found his pouty lips were puckered as if he was deep in thought. Either that or he was thinking about kissing me. Yeah, I knew we hadn’t been formally introduced, but I’d definitely consider kissing those lips. His gaze was intense, and it roamed my entire body, slowly, as if he were cataloging every detail for later when he was alone and naked in the shower. The thought of him naked, alone or otherwise, excited me.
“No one special.” I fidgeted in my seat. “Old boyfriend.”
“If you ask me, he’s a dumbass for letting you get away. You’re much prettier than candy.”
Another blush heated my cheeks as I shook my head and responded, if only to keep him talking, “Ahh, but you haven’t seen this particular piece of candy.”
“Don’t need to. He gave you up. In my book, that’s reason enough to achieve asshole status.” He winked and tipped his glass to mine. “But, thanks to his assholery, you’re here with me. So… to assholes.”
Okay. He was definitely flirting.

Sonja's Review

I’ve been meaning to read Ms. James for awhile now both because her books sound like my kind of books and one of my best friends really enjoys reading her, so I figured there would be a good chance that I would as well. And I was right because I loooooooooved 13! It was so fantastic and was the perfect first book to introduce me to this author and I can’t wait to read more!

I loved Sophia and Jared a lot, although Jared edged Sophia out by only just a little bit. It was close though because there’s so much to like and love about both of them. Sophia holds true to her principles and she works her tail off to achieve her dreams the honest way instead of taking an easier way. She’s strong and sassy, sweet and kind, and she’s a very determined, driven women and I really admired her for that.

Now, I’m not usually one for southern boys or their twang, but boy, did I love Jared, but when you meet him, trust me, you won’t blame me. He’s just so sweet, patient, attentive, and just every good thing you could want in your hero. Jared’s completely and utterly devoted to Sophia and he would do absolutely anything for her. It was impossible not to love him for his dedication, his charm, or his sweetness. Jared melted my heart way more than once and I know he’ll do the same to yours.

I really loved reading 13, it was fun and sweet and passionate and full of heart. I loved that Jared and Sophia worked on their emotional relationship before jumping into a physical one. That just made everything more heartfelt and better. 13 made me laugh, it squeezed my heart, and there was a lot of heart melting and warming too. I loved meeting Jared and Sophia and I’m so looking forward to going back and reading 21 and then any books that come after this one!

13 is the second book in The List series, but it can be read as a standalone, it’s told from Jared and Sophia’s POV, and they do get their happy ending.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: Birds of Paradise by Anne Malcom

Today we have the blog tour for Anne Malcom’s BIRDS OF PARADISE! We are so excited to share this new title with you—be sure to grab your copy today!
Title: Birds of Paradise
Author: Anne Malcom

About Birds of Paradise:
I was trapped in the house with a man that had meant to kill me. Might very well still mean to kill me. But not by locked doors, force, or ropes or chains. Not physical ones at least. The man who very well might kill me gave me the impression that he wanted nothing more than for me to walk out that door. I was not his captive. I was my own. I could very well die here. If there was anything left worth killing. If there was anything left in me that wanted to live. He collected dead things, after all. And with every day that passed, I found myself wanting to stay, even if that meant I was part of his collection of dead things. Especially if I was part of collection.

Sonja's Review

I couldn’t wait to read Birds of Paradise as soon as I saw that cover! It was just beautiful, intriguing, and demanded my attention. I had already decided that I wanted it before I checked out the synopsis, but when I did, I was only more excited for this book. And I was so not disappointed — Birds of Paradise was even better than I was expecting — it was amazing!

Elizabeth and the hero aren’t your average, orthodox characters, but I loved their differences and who they were. I can’t decide who I loved more because they’re both total bosses and they own who they are, what they are and they own their brokenness. Elizabeth becomes stronger and a fighter and the hero truly loves Elizabeth. I just loved them and their love — it was just right.

Birds of Paradise is my first Anne Malcom book, so when I read that this was a darker book for her to write, I was surprised because everything felt so natural, I never would’ve guessed that this wasn’t her normal for the most part. I’m so glad that she went darker because this book was so raw, delicious, and tempting. It was passion and fierceness and uniqueness. Birds of Paradise was beautiful in it’s brokenness and I just loved every minute of it, I loved Elizabeth and her hero — I just couldn’t get enough!

Birds of Paradise is a standalone, it’s told from the hero and Elizabeth’s POV, and they are together in the end.

Sonja’s Review

I saw a post on social media where a friend was raving about this book and it was a combination of that plus the cover and tagline — which had me oohing and aahing — that made me decide to go and check out I Dare You. And when I read the synopsis, it was immediately like I need to read this book and I need to read it NOW! As soon as I was able to, I dove right in and even though I didn’t ever want to come up for air until I was finished, well, I have to sleep sometime and real life kept getting in the way. I was a little bit glad about that though, because I Dare You was one of those stories that was so good that I just wanted it to last forever and I loved knowing that at the end of the day, Cole and Austin would be waiting for me to return. I Dare You was outstanding and I wholeheartedly loved, loved, LOVED it!

Cole and Austin are such powerhouse characters, it’s hard to decide who I loved more, but I’m going to give that honor to Austin this time because Cole made me want to shake him sometimes. Oh, that man will seriously test your patience, make you roll eyes, want to pull out your hair, and slap some sense into him, but if you like your heroes dark, dominant, arrogant, but still with a bit of a soft side only for his heroine and the people he loves most — then you won’t be able to stop yourself from loving Cole. Yes, he’s messed up and has his flaws, but seeing the way he loves and cares about Austin and seeing his heart makes all the difference, so give him a chance because he deserves it and he won’t let you down.

And man, Cole is definitely more than great, but Austin is absolutely amazing. The woman is a complete and utter boss. She’s cunning and twisted and strong as a mofo. Austin never backs down and never gives in, she plays the game and gives back just as much or more than she gets. Austin can take care of herself — she’s just a force to be reckoned with. She’s so full of fire and fierceness and I absolutely loved her and I won’t ever forgot her.

I Dare You was one of those books that took me longer to read not counting the time when I didn’t get to read and I loved that. I loved that I was able to spend more time than usual with this tale and its characters. I loved the suspense and the heart pounding, thrilling ride that it took me on. It was dark and twisted and might be wrong to some but felt so right to me. It was heartbreaking, fascinating, captivating, and spellbinding. I Dare You demanded everything and gave you everything back with its sinister, its passion, and its sweet. It’s a book I will remember when I look back on my best reads of the year and I can’t wait to read more from Ms. Tessier.

I Dare You is a standalone, it’s told from Cold and Austin’s POV and I dare you to read it and get a little dirty and dark!

EXCERPT:
AUSTIN
“Why am I here?” I ask, wanting to get this over with.
Cole takes the bottle from my hand and brings it to his lips, taking a big gulp. His Adam's apple working as he swallows.
I cross my arms over my chest, trying to look unaffected. But I’m having trouble breathing.
“We’ve been thinking …” he says, rubbing his chin.
“We want you to be a part of our group,” Deke finishes his sentence.
I look among the five of them and start laughing nervously. “You’re joking, right?”
“Not one bit,” Deke says, shaking his head.
“No thanks,” I say and turn to the door. I twist the handle and start to pull it open, but a hand slaps on the door above my head, holding it shut.
I jump back to look at Cole. He leans against it casually, getting comfortable and blocking my only exit. “It wasn’t an offer, Austin.”
My eyes narrow on him. “What makes you think I want anything to do with you guys?”
“Deke,” Cole says, lifting the bottle to his lips again.
I spin around to see Deke step up to us, his phone in his hand facing Cole and me. A video plays, and it’s of me driving Cole’s car away from the warehouse after he stole the red car.
“How did you get that?” I demand.
He just chuckles, placing the phone in his pocket. “I don’t kiss and tell, baby.”
My eyes narrow on him calling me baby. I turn back to face Cole. “You’re blackmailing me. Again.”
He shrugs carelessly. “You can call it whatever you want.”
“I’m calling it what it is,” I snap. “You know damn well that I had no idea what you had planned.”
He pushes off the wall and leans down, his face inches from mine. I can smell the cinnamon on his lips and can’t help the shudder that runs through me. “I dare you to prove it.”
“You son of a—”
“In order to join,” Deke interrupts me, “you have to pass a test.” He crosses his arms over his broad chest.
“I’m not interested …”
“Initiation,” he corrects himself.
“I don’t want to be involved with whatever fucked-up shit you guys are in.” How many different ways do I have to say it?
“Let her out,” Kellan says, but no one listens to him.
Deke continues. “You have to fuck one of us while we all watch.”
My heart starts to pound at his words. And my eyes widen when he takes a step toward me.
This is a joke. It has to be.
He arches a brow in challenge when I just stand there staring at him. “You want me, baby? I’m ready.” He licks his lips as his blue eyes settle on my legs. Then he reaches down to his jeans and unbuttons them.
He’s serious! My eyes immediately shoot to Cole.
His eyes hold their usual anger as they glare down at me, but a slow, devious smile spreads across his face, and the guys start laughing. “Well, there’s your answer, man,” one of them calls out from behind me.
My jaw tightens. “I don’t want to …”
“Leave us,” Cole orders, interrupting me. And like the trained sheep they are, they all walk out. I can still hear their laughter as they walk down the hall, the door slowly shutting behind them.
I plop down on one of the lounge chairs, trying to slow my racing heart. “You can’t force my hand, Cole. Not with this.”
He walks over to where I sit. Reaching out, he runs his busted knuckles along my cheek. I swat his hand away, afraid of what will come out of my mouth if he touches me.
His hand grips my hair and yanks me to stand. I cry out as he shoves my back
against the closed door. He towers over me, pushing his body into mine. I’m panting while he holds me still. He dips his head to whisper in my ear. “Are you a virgin, Austin?”
“No,” I growl. My hands come up to push him off me, but he grabs them and pins them above my head. I whimper, and my thighs tighten.
“That’s a shame.” He sighs, and his breath skims across my skin making me shudder. “I like to take pretty, innocent things and destroy them.”
“You’re sick,” I say, panting.
He chuckles but doesn’t deny it. “But that doesn’t make you want me any less. I saw the way you stared at me in the car. The way you licked your lips when I thought about kissing you. The way you whispered my name. How you stared at me when I got out of the pool. And let’s not forget the way you allowed me to touch you last night. Tell me, were you disappointed when I didn’t throw you on the bed and fuck you right then?” I moan. “I bet you’re wet right now.”
“Cole,” I growl his name, not wanting him to see how right he is.
But he ignores my warning. “You wore red for me again, sweetheart. You wanted my attention, and you got it. Now what are you gonna do with it?”

Lia's Review

Ilsa Madden-Mills is the queen of New Adult romance. Every book of hers has sucked me in and left me smiling at the end. And nothing excites me more than a juicy jock book.

I absolutely love the couple in this story. Delaney and Maverick have an amazing, opposites attract vibe going. The nerdy girl and the most popular athlete on campus. And while I’m not going to go into too much spoilery details, if you enjoy this genre, strong female characters, and hot heroes with heart's of gold, this one is definitely one you're going to want to read.

I Dare You doesn't have a lot the angsty goodness I've come to anticipate in Ilsa's books, but d*mn, it's good!!

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: Anonymous by L.P. Dover

Title: ANONYMOUS
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Romantic Suspense Standalone
Release Date: April 23, 2018

Every person has a story to tell. Some may be sweet with a happily ever after, but there are others that end in tragedy. Mine has yet to be finished.
My name is Elizabeth Kingston and this is where my story begins.
I never thought my life could be so perfect. I have an amazing job owning my own bakery, and a wonderful husband who I love and who loves me back. Never once did I have to worry about anything, at least, not until the texts started coming in. They always begin the same way … numbers that spell my nickname when read upside down.
31773
It’s someone from my past, only they won’t to tell me who they are, but that by talking to them, I’ll figure it out. It’s a game I refuse to play. Unfortunately, I’m left with no choice when things begin to take a dangerous turn.
His name is Anonymous and there’s only one thing he wants … ME.

Renee Entress’ Book Blog - “DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!”

Heather Lovelace - “Holy moly! This book...the pace wouldn’t let up. The perfect combination of tension and drama and romance and just overall fabulousness.”
Rebecca Edwards - “Ellie's story will leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more”

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L. P. Dover is a southern belle living in North Carolina with her husband and two beautiful girls. Before she began her literary journey she worked in periodontics, enjoying the wonderment of dental surgeries.
She loves to write, but she also loves to play tennis, go on mountain hikes and white water rafting, and has a passion for singing. Her two youngest fans expect a concert each and every night before bedtime, usually Christmas carols.
Dover has written countless novels, including her Forever Fae series, the Second Chances series, the Gloves Off series, the Armed & Dangerous series, the Royal Shifters series, the Society X series, the Circle of Justice series, and her standalone novel Love, Lies, and Deception. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense, but if she got to choose a setting in which to live, it would be with her faeries in the Land of the Fae.

Sonja's Review

It’s been too long since I’ve read L.P. Dover and it felt so good to read Anonymous! I checked out the synopsis right before starting it and I couldn’t wait to dive in. It was absolutely excellent and I couldn’t stop turning the pages!

Ellie and Jake are an awesome pair of people. Ellie is kind, strong, and down-to-earth and Jake is sweet, protective, and thoughtful. You can tell how much they love each other and you just can’t help but love them. They’re good and wonderful and I really enjoyed meeting them.

Anonymous grabbed and held my attention from start to finish. It had me guessing for awhile and I couldn’t wait to get to the end to see how everything would play out. It was full of heartbreak, suspense, heart, and love. It made my heart ache, made my smile, and made me melt. I completely loved Anonymous and I hope Ms. Dover writes a story for one of the characters in this book — although I won’t say who, but I’m sure she knows who I’m talking about *wink, wink.*

Anonymous is a standalone, it’s told from Jake and Ellie’s POV, and they do get their happily-ever-after.
