Now he’s dying.

Beck—
I married an addict.
I didn’t know it at the time.
She hid it well.
Now she could die.

When Bernadette—Birdie—Chapman and Beck Griffin meet in grief counseling they have an instant connection. For Birdie, it’s a comfort to share her feelings with someone who knows what she’s going through. For Beck, it’s an outlet, someone who understands his anger.

But neither is prepared when they fall in love.

And the guilt is almost too much to bear.

Thursdays—a love story of two broken hearts that find each other…and try to become a whole…

Sonja's Review

Well, I just finished Thursdays and it's one of those books where I can't write a normal review. It's different and I can't do it the same way I do all the others. And I know what I want to say but then I don't, so I guess I should just start at the beginning.

I was really nervous about Thursdays after reading that synopsis, but Harper Bentley is one of my favorites,  so I decided to go ahead and read it. And I can honestly say that I do not regret reading it although I kind of want some ice cream and to read something happy right now, but that's besides the point. The point is - yes, this book is hard to read, sometimes it's depressing, sometimes it's frustrating, it will make you cry and feel like your heart's been ripped out and stomped on and no, it doesn't end on a happy note for right now, but I didn't have a bad time reading Thursdays all the time. It even made laugh really hard a couple of times, so while it might be dark and there's no light at the end of the tunnel just yet, it's still worth the read because there are light moments, there are happy times and I really loved reading about them.

If you want a book that will make you feel both the good and the bad, then you should pick Thursdays up. It's just real and there was so much that I loved, respected, and admired about the way that Ms. Bentley wrote this book. It truly is amazing and I will definitely read the next book, although I will admit that I'm glad that I have a little break before I read it.

Excerpt – Opening Scene (SPOILER ALERT)

“Vous avez un cancer du sein.”

Translation: “You have breast cancer.” Four words no woman wants to hear.

It was on the night of the grand opening of my Paris hotel one week ago and after a long day, while taking a shower, I felt a small lump in my right breast.

After several tests and a biopsy, Dr. Benneteau, the oncologist called…

Days later, I still can’t get over the shock.

As I stare at the gray clouds that cover the Eiffel Tower, my phone rings, snapping me out of my thoughts. My husband Jonathan’s face illuminates my screen.

“Hey, baby. How are my two favorite men in the world?”

“Overwhelmed. I just had a break and I wanted to be sure I checked in with you. Any idea when you’re going to be home?”

Not anytime soon.

“Apart from seeing your handsome face and my sweet son for a couple days, I really can’t rationalize flying across the Atlantic for two days. I have to head over to Austria to make sure everything is on schedule with the property there.”

“I miss my wife, and Jordan misses his mom.”

My chest aches at the sound of his words. “If you really want, I’ll come home but it would be so much less pressure on me if I just stayed.”

He sighs at the end of the line and mumbles a disgruntled, “Okay.”

“It’s not like you’d have time for me either if I came, is it? You couldn’t even make the grand opening of Paris Bleu. All you’ve been telling me is how crazy it has been trying to get everything in place at the various branches of the firm.”

“That’s true. I just miss you that’s all. Things just seem so much easier to handle when you’re here.”

His words warm my heart. “I miss you too. I’ll be home as soon as I am able, I promise. In the meanwhile we always have FaceTime. But don’t you ever forget how much I love you.”

“I love you too, babe. I have to go. I’ll be in touch soon.”

I end the call.

I may not have gotten over the shock of my diagnosis, but from the moment I found the lump, I’ve spent all my time researching it, and I have another appointment with the doctors this afternoon.

Jonathan’s been overwhelmed of late since his sister Megan moved to Switzerland and his right-hand man, Cooper, lost his wife after a battle with—breast cancer. I don’t want to worry him. Besides, it’s just stage two breast cancer…or at least that is what I continue to tell myself.

I have already made up my mind about what I’m going to do—handle it on my own. Have a double mastectomy so this never ever resurfaces again and tell my husband when I get home. That way, the problem will be handled; they’ll see that I’m healthy and we can all just move on with our lives. I’ll be saving them the agony of going through this anyway…

My Review

Okay, I wanted to Love, Lies & A Bleu Christmas, but boy oh boy, was I nervous to start after that synopsis! I obsessed over it, worried about it, and had all these different scenarios playing in my head while I had to wait before I could read it - the anxiety was real, my friends, but you know what? It turned out that it was all for nothing and I truly could not have been happier for that! I just need to remember to trust Ms. Rohman and not freak out so much because this book was seriously excellent and I looooved it!

I still loved Jonathan at the end of Love, Lies & The D.A., but it was more of that I-love-you-but-I-kind-of-want-to-kill-or-maim-you type love. I think that's part of what made so anxious for this book, because while I knew that he was a great guy and I didn't think he would do anything to hurt Jada on purpose, I guess I had some trust issues even though I knew they were unwarranted - what can I say - I'm a mess sometimes. Although I am happy to report that I just love love Jonathan now and there is no residual anger or irritation left over. Jonathan is is beyond wonderful here and if you were like me, then he'll make you proud and get you back on his side and if you loved loved him, then he's only going to make you fall even more for him!

Man, I though Jada was kicka*s before, but she's just been upgraded to bada*s status! The woman is so strong and even though she has her doubts, weaknesses, and insecurities here, they just made her more real and extraordinary. Jada is a classy and elegant, but don't mess with her because she'll put you in her place and it's absolutely epic when she does. My love for Jada only grew and she's my favorite Rebecca Rohman character and honestly, I think she always will be!

Well, Love, Lies & A Bleu Christmas may not have been as angsty as I tortured myself thinking it was going to be, but make no mistake, it's still going to get you. It will punch you in the gut, stop your heart, and make you ache. It will definitely still give you a little anxiety and normally, I'm not one who loves when authors write another story about a couple's happily-ever-after after the fact, but this is one that you should really consider reading because it just made Jonathan and Jada such stronger, better people not only as a couple, but as themselves too. It was beautiful, meaningful, amazing, and I love it even more than the first book!

Love, Lies & A Bleu Christmas should be read after Love, Lies & The D.A., it's told from Jonathan and Jada's POV, and yes, they get their happy ending again only better!

Sonja's Review

Jennifer Probst is a new author to me, but she is fast becoming one of my favorites! Everywhere and Every Way was her first book for me and so when I saw Searching for Disaster, I immediately wanted to read it. It took me a little while to get to it and after reading it, you can bet that I'm kicking myself that I waited as long as I did because it was utterly fantastic. I absolutely fell in love with the story and now I CANNOT wait to read the rest of the books in the Searching For series!

Izzy is funny and sweet and she tries so hard to be good and strong that I couldn't help but love her. Sure, she has her weak moments and times where you want to nudge her so she'll wake up and see how special she is, but I couldn't be or stay mad at her for that. Izzy has a little baggage, she has her struggles, but she's real and I know that you'll love her!

And if I know you'll love Izzy, then I have no doubts whatsoever that you will love Liam just as much and probably more than her! Liam is kind and patient and understanding. He definitely has the whole alpha, dominant, possessive thing down, but he's not afraid to let Izzy lead when he knows she needs it and he gives her space to figure things out too. Liam is completely amazing and I positively loved him!

I had such a great time reading Searching for Disaster! It had me laughing pretty much all of the time, it was light and fun and I never wanted to stop reading it. It's not all rainbows and butterflies all the time though, it still made my heart squeeze and ache and made me worry about Izzy and Liam even though I knew they were going to get their happy ending. It was just a beautiful, steamy, sweet, and wonderful book and you can bet that I'll be getting the other books and reading them as soon as I can!

Searching for Disaster can be read as a standalone, it's told from Liam and Izzy's POV, and they do get their happy ending.

Synopsis:
“Stryker”
I’m a drifter.
A man born to ride through this world alone.
There used to be a time when I thought I was the rescuing type. I enlisted in the Marines and made it my duty—I was going to save lives.
I was going to be a true American hero.
But God had another plan.
Or maybe Satan did.
For everything I touch finds mortality.
I’m no hero.
I’m nothing.
I’m a veteran biker, a former nomad who survived war only to live in hell.
Now I ride with the Satan’s Knights of Brooklyn and I’m drifting into a different kind of chaos.
The kind that revolves around a pretty girl with intoxicating green eyes.
A girl who has the power to turn me inside out.
A girl who doesn’t need anyone to rescue her because she’s her own savior.
Until she’s not.
But a man plagued by war and the devil inside him can never be her hero.

Gina Spinelli
They are the three things I strived to be.
But sometimes being successful can be lonely.
Sometimes a girl just wants to be a girl and have someone take care of her.
Maybe even love her.
Sometimes the strong become vulnerable.
Or worse, the victor becomes the victim.
Sometimes we lose control or in my case it’s stripped from you.
Defeated. Broken. Haunted.
They are the three things I have become.
In my darkest hour I admit defeat.
In my darkest hour I need one person.
I need him.
Stryker.

Excerpt:
“Five facts,” he starts, reciting the words I said to him before I pulled him into my apartment that first night. My lips part, nothing but a short breath escapes as he presses his index finger to my mouth, silencing me. His lips quirk, teasing me with that smile of his before he pulls his finger back and holds it in the air between us.
“One, I can’t get you out of my head,” he admits, raising another finger between us. “Two, I suck at this shit,” he sighs, cocking his head to the side as he assesses my reaction before continuing. “Three, I want more of you,” he rasps. “A whole lot more.”
I swallow back the words I want to say and get lost in the way he stares at me.
“Four, I know you went to the Crazy Taco tonight hoping I’d be there because…pretty girl, you want more too, don’t you?”
He gives into the smirk as he closes the space separating us and holds up all five fingers again.
“Five, your panties are soaked,” he whispers, blowing his breath against my lips. He reaches out, winding his finger around the denim belt loop of my jeans and tugs me against his hard frame. “Your turn, pretty girl,” he says huskily. “Five facts.”
Pressing both my palms against his chest, I push back and narrow my eyes at him.
“You want five facts, Stryker, fine. Here’s five hard facts. One, I’m not wearing panties,” I whisper through clenched teeth as I poke my finger into his chest. His cocky smirk disappears as his mouth parts and his eyes grow darker in color.
“Two, I’m over it. Three, you most definitely suck at this,” I add, rolling my eyes for extra emphasis as I dig my finger deeper into his chest. “Four, I did not go there because of you. I went there because I’m a sucker for a margarita. And finally—”
Before I can process what’s happening, my words die as Stryker throws his body over mine and we tumble onto the concrete.
“Get down on the double,” he shouts, laying his body over mine. Hitting the concrete face first and struggling to comprehend what was happening, I push myself up and glance over my shoulder to see Stryker reach for the gun tucked into the waistband of his jeans.
Pop, pop, pop!
“I’ve got you,” he rasps, cocking his gun and aiming it down the block.
“Stryker, no!” Pulling back I grip his shirt. “Stryker!”
Pop, pop, pop!
My pleas fall on deaf ears and I watch in horror as he pulls back the safety and aims the barrel of the gun toward the kids innocently shooting off caps on the corner of my block.
Pop, pop, pop!

Sonja's Review

Well, I know Ms. Bosco might have been worried at first if her readers would like this new series of hers, but I never did. I trust her, I love her writing and I knew that even if she ripped my heart like I thought would happen after reading her note at the beginning and while being a little nervous about that, I still knew that she would bring us home in the end and that I would love Drifter. And bring us home she did - it was hard and heart wrenching at times, but the journey was worth it.

Gina is beautiful, strong, and amazing - simple as that. She's spunky and passionate as Stryker would say and so darn tough. Gina is a survivor, but I don't want to say too much because I can't do her the justice she deserves. She is amazing and you need to meet her for yourself. I loved her and I know she will make you proud just like she made me.

I've wanted to read Stryker's story ever since we first met him in Riggs' book (at least, I think it was Riggs' book, my memory doesn't always work, so no judging) and it was worth the wait. There were a few times when I wanted to shake him for being stubborn, but even that couldn't have stopped me from loving him. Stryker is good, caring, patient, and compassionate. He broke my heart, melted it, and stole it. He's wonderful, he's frustrating, he's protective, and he is a hero though he might not always believe it, but that's just what makes him an even better one.

Five Facts.
One, Drifter did tear my heart out and make me cry more than once.
Two, it was sexy and dirty and passionate and full of lightning.
Three, it might have made me cry, but it also made me laugh and smile and grin and sigh and melt way more than a few times.
Four, I did find the beautiful, yes, there was heartache and pain, but also beauty and love and heart.
And as for Number Five, it was incredible, it was raw, it was heart-taking, it was real, it was freeing, and I completely loved it.

Drifter is the first in the Nomad series, it's told from Stryker and Gina's POV, they get their well-deserved, hard fought for happily-ever-after, and this girl right here can't wait for the next book!
