REVIEW TOUR: Stroked by Meghan Quinn

We're celebrating the release of STROKED by Meghan Quinn!

STROKED by Meghan Quinn
Scheduled to release: July 20, 2016
NA Romantic Comedy

BLURB:
Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.

His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.

On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.

I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.

There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.

What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

About the Authors:
Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Lydia's Review

Reese King: an Olympic medalist with a body like a Greek God... excuse me while I drool now.
His only problem? Bellini Chambers... a spoiled, cracked-in-the-head heiress - I seriously wanted to knock that girl out.

Enter my fav girl... our leading lady, Paisley. She had a major crash and burn in her past and she is given the job as assistant to the nut job heiress. She is extremely attracted to Reese... not that I blame her... and sparks fly everytime they are around each other. But she can't mess this job up... this is her chance to get back into the life she wants.

And, of course, with this being a Meghan Quinn book I laughed during the whole story. I rooted for Reese and Paisley throughout the book and was left with a feel happy, warm feeling.

SPOTLIGHT REVIEW: A Beginner's Guide to Corruption by David Misch

POWER! WEALTH! SEX! What are these things without the corruption that feeds them? In A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO CORRUPTION, veteran humorist, David Misch, offers an easy and deliciously funny step-by-step guide on how to find or create corruption wherever you need it. If you appreciated America Again: Re- becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't by Stephen Colbert, or The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents Earth (The Book) by Jon Stewart, you’ll enjoy the many “truths” of CORRUPTION!
Title: A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption
Author: David Misch
Genre: Satirical/Humor
Release Date: July 21st, 2016
Publisher: Self-Published
Print Length: 71 pages
Format: Digital and Paperback Paperback ISBN: 978-1532714504

Synopsis:
Most people believe that the high-paying world of lying, cheating, stealing, kickbacks, bribes and blackmail is hopelessly out of reach. They’re right... unless they buy this book.

In just 71 fact(ish)-filled pages, comedy writer David Misch shows you dozens of sure-fire, time-tested and only marginally illegal ways to feed at the trough of political, financial and/or romantic depravity. But don’t take our word for it – listen to the master...

"Not everyone can be corrupt; it takes a magical combination ofopportunity, moral turpitude and having something to sell: wealth, power, sex. (Got the set? Score!) Or, in lieu of those admirable attributes, a willingness to give up all moralstandards and betray anyone who trusts you. Does this sound like you? Then welcome to “A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption”!"

And remember, “A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption” by David Misch has been called “The funniest book ever written about corruption” by corruption expert David Misch!
Paperback ($10.50); Kindle ($2.99)

Excerpt:
My dictionary defines “corruption” as “the act of impairing integrity, virtue, or moral principle; the state of being debased; impurity; wickedness; depravity.”

Wow. Ol’ Dictionary’s gettin’ pretty judgmental for an inanimate object in a dying technology.

Let’s get real, peeps: corruption is deceit in pursuit of personal gain. And while we can debate whether deceit is “good” or “bad”, nobody argues with personal gain. What are we after in life – personal loss? I don’t think so. And personal gain ain’t gonna leap onto your thighs for a free lap-dance; you gotta make it come to you.

There are lots of ways to do this: Wishing. Hoping. Hard Work. All perfectly valid... if you’re the world’s biggest pussy.

No, a brief perusal of today’s headlines shows that Corruption as a route to wealth and happiness is fast, easy and effective, other than when it takes years, requires enormous effort, and doesn’t work.

But let’s face it, not everyone can be corrupt; it takes a magical combination of opportunity, moral turpitude and having something to sell: wealth, power, sex. (Got the set? Score!) Or, in lieu of those admirable attributes, a willingness to give up all moral standards and betray anyone who trusts you. Does this sound like you? Then welcome to “A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption”!

A bit of preliminary advice; before fooling others, many expert corruptioneers find it helpful to fool themselves. Believing that what you do for personal gain is actually a sacrifice for your family/company/country is crucial to getting away with it. When Chief Bill Clinton Impeacher Newt Gingrich was discovered having an affair during the impeachment, he explained “There’s no question that, partially driven by how passionately I feel about this country, things happened in my life that were not appropriate.” Ah, Newt, we miss you.

(Meanwhile, Assistant Chief Clinton Impeacher Dennis Hastert was making multimillion-dollar payoffs to one of the teenagers he molested as a high school wrestling coach.)

To be conscious you’re evil risks Snidely Whiplash Syndrome, in which the victim grows a long moustache and twirls it obsessively while chortling. (SWS is especially challenging for women, a gender generally unschooled in the craft of evil-moustache-twirling.)

This book [Note to readers under 20: A “book” (buk) is a papyrus-based wireless display device which uses ultra-thin “pages” to convey information] will reveal the secret to success through corruption (and its bff fraud) in the fields of Politics, Finance and Love, and will give you this information in less than 30 minutes, assuming you skip the first 9 pages.

Why should obscene financial wealth and supercilious social status belong only to the professionally corrupt? I dream of a time when – thanks to their purchase of this moderately-priced “book” [see above] – every American will be able to say “I’m rich! I’m corrupt! And I’m not guilty! (Although I’m willing to plea bargain.)”

Advanced Praise For “Beginner’s Guide to Corruption”:

"Great!" – Daniel Klein, NY Times best-seller "Plato and a Platypus Walk Into A Bar... UnderstandingPhilosophy Through Jokes"

“Who needs Machiavelli when you have Misch? 'A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption' covers much the same ground as 'The Prince', at a fraction of the time and with more laffs. Read, learn, and satisfy your heart’s every evil desire.” — Ellis Weiner, NY Times best-seller “Yiddish with Dick and Jane”

"Misch may be corrupt himself in saying he 'wrote' this book - because everything in it is 100% fact. What he HAS done, though, is figure out how to present such depressing reality hilariously. Really funny and smart." – Paul Provenza, "The Aristocrats", "¡Satiristas!"

"I thought I knew everything about lying, cheating and stealing -- this book disabused me of that. David Misch is one funny motherf@$&r.” -- Penn Jillette, Penn & Teller, "Penn's Sunday School" Podcast

Sonja's Review

A Beginner's Guide to Corruption is not usually the type of book I read and I'll be honest, (which means I'm already failing in being corrupt, but then again I'm talking and only thinking about myself, so we're back on track) it was the short length of the book and the fact that Mr. Misch did some writing on "Mork and Mindy" that sealed the deal for me. I'm very glad that I did because in addition to learning the ways of being successful... oops, I mean being corrupt... I also got quite a few good laughs out of it too. A Beginner's Guide to Corruption was highly entertaining, amusing, educational, and informative - it was simply fantastic.

If you want some laughs, are in a learning mood, and have an hour to spare, you should definitely check out A Beginner's Guide to Corruption. It will school you in the ways politicians... I mean, rich people... I mean, people... are corrupt and what to do so that you may become corrupt yourself. And if that isn't a good enough reason, you'll definitely get some chuckles out of it, I know I did and even if it's not your typical kind of read, give it a chance because I sure enjoyed it!

“At 18 I had pennies, but money didn’t make me bold. At 19 I had dollars, but it didn’t dull the pain of being sold. At 20 I had hundreds, but then I met him and was found. At 21 I had thousands, but all I wanted was to be bound.”
“At 23 I had dollars, but life changed and made me rich. At 25 I had hundreds, but it wasn’t enough to stop my killing itch. At 27 I had thousands, but my reputation didn’t set me free. At 29 I had millions, but I met her and could finally see.”
Tasmin was killed on her 18th birthday. She had everything planned out. A psychology degree, a mother who pushed her to greatness, and a future anyone would die for. But then her murderer saved her life, only to sell her into a totally different existence.
Elder went from penniless to stinking rich with one twist of fate. His lifetime of crime and shadows of thievery are behind him but no matter the power he now wields, it’s not enough. He has an agenda to fulfil and he won’t stop until it’s complete.

She was poor.
He was rich.
Together…they were bankrupt.

Excerpt
Fuck this.
I stalked forward.
My hand came up.
The urge to soothe her catapulted my fingers to her cheek. My skin erupted from her delicate heat. I’d already had my single touch when I’d petted her hair. I wasn’t permitted a second.
But it didn’t stop me.
One second, she stood close, arching her chin at the door.
The next, she was across the cage, flying into a stack of boxes that tumbled in a clatter of butcher knives, butter knives, and sharp forks.
Her eyes turned luminous in the gloom, locking on mine with rage.
Shit.
I’d forgotten myself by feeling sorry for this beaten wraith, but she hadn’t forgotten her overwhelming hatred of men.
I didn’t look away. But I didn’t explain myself, either.
I’d borrowed her for the night. If I wanted to touch her, I could. The fact that she’d leapt away meant I could report her to her master and have her punished.
Or you could punish her instead.
The distance between us grew thicker as we breathed fast.
I waited…wanting to know just how deep her education in pleasure flowed. Tearing her gaze from mine, she swallowed hard. Piece by piece, she hid her loathing, replacing it with reluctant acceptance.
Inching closer, her toes nudged aside sharp blades as she made her way to me and fell to her knees on the cold concrete.
Half of me jolted with insane lust. Most of me shied away with repulsion as her straggly hair covered her face but not before I saw the twisted disgust and echoing despair.
“Get up,” I murmured. Even though my voice was low, the cavern of the garage amplified it, layering it with bite.
Instantly, she swooped up. The crackle of her joints and misused cartilage in her bones sounded like tiny gunfire.
“Don’t kneel. Not in here.”

Sonja's Review

Oh, I just finished Pennie$ and now all I want to do is cry because it's over and I have to wait until September to find out what's going to happen next! OOOoooOOOhhh, it just stinks! GARGH! UUUgggHHH!

Okay, I've got all the crying, whining, and moaning out of my system now... mostly... I still want to cry, but I won't. I'll just start my review the way I was planning to before the ending got in my way.

Pennie$ is the first Pepper Winters' book that I've read - although I've been meaning to read her for a long tim, in fact, I think she was probably one of the first indie authors that I found back when I didn't even know what an indie author was. You're probably wondering why I waited so long before I picked up one of her books and at first, it was because I wanted to wait until her series were completed, but mostly it was a lack of time. So, you can imagine that when she started a new series and I finally had the time, I totally pounced on reading Pennie$ and I'm so glad that I did because it was incredible! It might have been a long wait for me, but it was completely worth it and I'm excited for the time when I get to read her again.

I'm debating on whether or not I should tell you about Pim and Elder and/or what I should say about them. They're not your usual kind of hero and heroine - not that you deal with the usual kind when it's a dark book, but I guess I should say, to me, they weren't normal even for dark characters. It was definitely not a bad thing though, just different.

My heart ached for Pimlico and I hated what happened to her and you know what? Hate isn't even a strong enough word, I loathed everything she had to endure and I couldn't help but admire and respect her unbelievable strength and resolve. It's not easy being inside her head, seeing what goes on, and feeling all her emotions, but I don't regret any of it and I'm eager to see who she will become in the upcoming books.

Elder - sometimes I loved him and sometimes I hated him. He made me want to shake him and to scream and yell at him to do something. He was frustrating but also intriguing - I wanted to know about his past, what made him tick, and I waited on pins and needles for whatever he would do next. I'm still not completely happy with Elder Prest, but d*mn if I don't want to see him again!

Pennie$ sucked me in, captivated me, and I devoured it. There were times when I absolutely could not tear myself away and whenever I did have to, I would do whatever I had to fast and hurry back to it. It had my emotions all over the place: it broke my heart, infuriated me, scared me, and it made me feel both hope and hopeless. Pennie$ is a phenomenal, heart racing, heart pounding journey that will leave you breathless and on the edge of you seat.

Pennie$ is the first book in the Dollars series, it's told from Elder and Pim's POV, and if you couldn't tell from before, it ends in a cliffhanger that will make you crazy.

Tiny Tease:
I recognized the need to forget all the details and just concentrate on what I knew. And I knew how to eat a f*cking p*ssy.

      The secret was simple.

It was never, ever the same.

It could be the same woman, the same day, the same f*cking session, but a woman’s p*ssy is a special kind of woman. She’s picky but f*cking generous, and she gets off on all kinds of wicked sh*t, but her biggest turn-on is variety and a good sense of mood.

I did my best to listen for Cassie’s cues, her moans and whimpers and the speed of her breath. Did she need it faster or slower, and was the pressure just right? The answer was never consistent, and I f*cking loved it. Every time I earned a reward through the curl of her toes or a squeeze of her knees, it made me work harder.

Lia's Review

I have been DYING for this book ever since I read Tapping the Billionaire. It seems Max and Monroe have created quite a stir in the romance world. And all the hype, the mystery surrounding their identity? Who flipping cares when they're putting out funny and sexy Rom coms like this one?! Because all that matters is the book. I'm not even the least bit curious anymore. Nope. Haha, I'm totally lying. I want to know who they are too!

With hashtags floating around like #IdThatchThat and the freaking awesome names Cassie comes up with in the book, I have to say this one us one helluva hilarious, hot ride. Because these two have so much chemistry, I was waiting for my kindle to spontaneously combust. And the story? Well it's hella amazeballs. This book has some of the best banter and dialogue I've ever had the pleasure to read. And I read a lot.

It seems our mystery authors have another bona fide hit on their hands. I am completely and utterly hooked on this Bad Boy Billionaire series. Bring on the novella, Max. Hopefully I won't be cursing you out after I finish it. I jumped on the bandwagon with the first book. Now I want to be the fan club president.

Excerpt:

“I am a coward,” he whispered.
“Branford…no.”  I took a step toward him.
“I am,” he said.  “I’m a coward and an idiot.  Alexandra, please…hear me out.”
I closed my eyes for a moment and nodded.
“I have hurt you,” he stated.  “It was not my intent, yet it happened anyway.
“You barely spoke to me,” I replied as I turned my head and closed my eyes tightly.
“You would not have wanted me here,” he said quietly.  “I have been…”
He stopped and sighed heavily, approached me, and dropped back to his knees.  I looked down to see him once again and reached out to touch his rough cheek.
“I wanted you here,” I said.  He shook his head.
“I am…”  Branford paused, and when my fingers brushed his face, I could feel his jaw clenched tightly.  “I am afraid.  Afraid for you.  I brought you into my world to insult King Edgar, and insult him I have, but he does not intend to take the insult out on me and my army.  He plans to take it out on you.  I have put you in terrible danger out of arrogance and lust for revenge.”
He grasped his thighs as he looked up into my eyes.
“I never should have brought you here,” he whispered vehemently.  “You are in peril, and it is my fault!  I am to blame!  How can you look at me, knowing I did this to you?  Now that you know what he will do if I do not have an heir soon or if I refuse Whitney next month—he will not just…just kill you.”
He stopped speaking abruptly, and I could sense the pounding of his heart in his chest and see the panic in his eyes.
“I did not want you to hear him speak such things,” he said.
“He has said worse,” I said, presuming.
“He has.”  I saw and felt his anger blaze in his eyes.  “I will not allow you to be touched, my wife.  I would…I would sacrifice my kingdom before I would allow that to happen.”
“Branford, you cannot—”
“I can!”  His eyes blazed.  “I would sacrifice all of them before I would let him touch you!”
