Like his twin brother Taylor, Tyler Maddox is a member of the Alpine Hotshots, fighting wildland fires on the frontline. As arrogant as he is charming, Tyler’s nomadic lifestyle makes it easy to contain his relationships to one night. When he meets Ellie at a local party during off-season, her extreme personality and dismissive attitude fascinates him at first, but as his feelings deepen, Tyler realizes that the crippling inner demons of the woman he loves might be the strongest enemy any Maddox has ever faced.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: UnderCovers by Kayti McGee

Undercovers Blog tour Banner   Under Covers Final Cover
Blurb
Halfway through her first year on the job, Melissa Montclair decides the best part of teaching is winter break.
And the best part of break is the Perfect Ten she meets in a bar on New Year’s Eve. Why not celebrate a semester under her belt with a Perfect Ten in her pants? The one night affair is all she hoped for, until she walks into school a week later and sees Mr. Ten is Student Twenty-nine on her roll call.
She should be mortified—and she is—but that doesn’t stop her from banging him again. And again.
And again.
So much for job security.
Posing as an exchange student at Hamilton High is finally the assignment Officer Spence Vega has been hoping for. Now he has a shot at getting to the bottom of the town’s recent molly epidemic. There’s only a couple of problems: first, history is taught by the curvy bombshell he banged on New Year’s. Second, his growing suspicion is that she’s the dealer he’s looking for.
The job was supposed to be an easy in-and-out, not the teacher.
If only they could stop getting under the covers, staying undercover would be so much easier.

  Excerpt
I run my hands across the small of her back softly, swaying against her as she arches into me. We are dancing without music, a sexy tango of clothes and lips. (See what I did there? Tango. Oh wait, that’s Argentina. Never mind.) And soon she is standing in nothing but lace. I run my hands over the swells of her breasts and relish in her gasps and moans. She's wound tight, and I plan to play her like a violin. (That one works much better.) Her bra drops to the floor, and she stands flushed and unashamed before me.
My teacher. Goddamn. I am going to go home and sponsor two more orphans.
"Take off your panties," I order.
She hooks her thumbs into the elastic and spins in a slow circle, leading with her ass. Slowly, she slides them down, her shapely ass still in the air, and lifts one leg at a time, my own private strip show. All we’re missing are the glasses and the chaste updo. Although, truly, I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. She's totally bare, always a treat, and already I can remember her sweet taste on my tongue. I pick her up, and she wraps her legs around my waist, giggling as I spin her around. I set her on the island and kiss her cheeks, her neck, across her collarbone, and down to those tits I’ve been longing for.
Each nipple pebbles under the warmth of my tongue, like they were waiting for this very moment.
Like they were waiting for me. The two new orphans I promised to care for. She drops her head backwards and moans, encircling her arms around my neck. I secure her to me with my right arm and use my left hand to cup each breast as I adore it with my tongue. I can't stop thinking of what sheer perfection her body is. She smells like a honeycomb, tastes the same, and her skin is as soft as silk. Our bodies move together like they were made for one another, calibrated to the other exactly.
It's the most intimate moment I’ve ever shared with someone, and we haven’t even gotten to the sexing yet. I said I was riding a unicorn before, but this girl is a unicorn.
My cock begins to ache in anticipation, rising again to the challenge. I lay her down gently across the island, my own personal feast, and bend over her. I can’t stop my hips from moving as I kiss her again, and work my way back down her body. Past the delicious swells of her breasts, down the tight curves of her stomach, past her cunt smelling incredibly of her sex. I love on her legs and her calves, paying special attention to the tender skin behind her knees and on her upper thighs.
She growls playfully, wriggling her body each time my lips cross over the spot she wants me most, but I don't give in. Instead I give her a single long, slow lick down her blissfully pink pussy and return to her stomach, then back up to her breasts. Her nipples are tight nubs and I gently bite down on each.
"Tease," she breathes.
I only grin wickedly at her. After all, she’s the one who suggested that this last all evening.
"Lick me." She’s (impossibly) even sexier when she commands me.
"Only when you beg me." She might be my teacher, but I can show her a thing or two myself.
She shudders a little. "I never beg."
"Tonight you will."

Sonja's Review

I wanted to read UnderCovers as soon as I saw that it was written by Ms. McGee because I've read the books she's done with Laurelin Paige and absolutely loved them, so I was sure this would be good! And when I actually read the synopsis, I was even more excited for it. It was fantastic and I loved it from the moment I started it!

Melissa is such an awesome heroine! She's funny and sassy, passionate and warm, and she's smart and loves history - just like me although it's safe to say that she loves it way more than I do. It was so entertaining to be in her head, there was never a dull moment and I would totally be friends with someone like Melissa. She's super cool and I looooooved her!

Man, oh, man, Spencer is one HOT hero! He's definitely an alpha with all his dominant, teasing, possessive, dirty talking ways. Of course, I loved that about Spencer, but what really sold me was his personality and how funny he was. He's just as funny as Melissa and he was always making me laugh and sigh - I just never stood a chance against the guy! I absolutely, positively loved, loved, loved Spencer!!

Well, with a funny hero and heroine, it's a no brainer that UnderCovers itself is a funny book - I mean really, it's downright hilarious! It had me howling and shrieking with laughter and by then end of the book, my stomach hurt from laughing so much and granted that could have just been because I was hungry, but I don't think so. While UnderCovers is chock full of humor, it is also so HOT and trust me, you are going to have melted panties to go along with your melted heart! It is just beyond an excellent book and I wholeheartedly loved and enjoyed reading it!

UnderCovers is a standalone, it's told from Spencer and Melissa's POV, and they have an awesomely funny happily-ever-after ending!

Lydia's Review

Pandemonium: Loud confusion and uproar... mayhem... chaos.

This definition is spot on for this book. I can't tell you enough how excited I was to get my hands on the first book about the MC Sinners' kids... OMG, I feel like I have waited forever for this series to begin.

Being the daughter of the Sinners' President isn't easy on your social life, especially when you have all the men in the club watching over you. Ava is the good girl, she stays out of trouble... but no one expected her to be kidnapped and tortured by a rival of her father's club. I won't lie... I cried for Ava, her pain was excruciating and so hard to read about. One of the things I love about Bella's books is that they make you feel.

Ava escapes and is found by Lucas a.k.a. Shadow... a man with a painful past that ties him to the Sinners' club. He never expected to fall so hard for Ava but they had a connection no one else could understand.

They get their HEA but I don't want to spoil the whole story (winks). The sex is scorching hot and the feels are intense... this book earned its five plus stars! I will be impatiently waiting for the next couple in the series!

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: Dazzled by Jane Harvey-Berrick

AP - Synopsis.jpg

Miles Stephens is a young actor from London. Out of work, unemployable, and fired from his last job, he unexpectedly gets the chance to star in a big-time Hollywood movie.
The film is a great success, propelling him to worldwide fame – but when the dream doesn’t match the reality, he turns to Clare, lifelong friend and girl next door.

Clare knows two important facts:
  1. When you break chocolate, the calories fall out…
  2. And that she’s totally in love with clueless Miles.

Clare
Mum and Dad were out at Aunt Paula’s party, so I had the house to myself.
I was glad of that, because I wanted to wallow. Preferably with chocolate. I got lucky when I found a Black Forest gateau that Mum had bought to celebrate with Prue, and proceeded to stuff my face. I ate well over half of it. A generous half. The kind of half that a miserable sod might call three-quarters. Whatever. I felt full and nauseous.
All I needed now was a sappy love story on the TV, and I was all set for a classic wallow in the time honored tradition.
The evening had been a complete and utter nightmare. From the moment Lilia had arrived, everything had gone wrong. And then she’d dragged him off to her lair, and when he came out again his shirt and tie were undone, and he had lipstick on his cheek. It was soooo obvious what they’d been doing. Especially when she followed him out, a smug smile pasted across her ugly trout pout.
She’d told me she’d get him back—it looked as though she was right. I really didn’t think he would have succumbed that quickly. I hated being proved wrong.
So I was as irritated as all hell when some bastard rang the bell and knocked on the door.
The last person I expected to see was Miles waiting on the other side, looking ridiculously beautiful and debonair in his tailor-made tux.
I, on the other hand, had changed into sweatpants and an old t-shirt. One of his. Oh, and I had crumbs down my cleavage.
The cold air rushed in as I stood in the hallway, my mouth open more widely than the front door.
“You left,” he said.
“You were busy.”
He frowned. “Can I come in?”
“If you want.”
I let the door hang open, then turned my back and headed into the warmth of the cozy living room.
I heard him close the front door and follow me inside. It had been a long time since we’d been in this house together.
He stood awkwardly while I gestured for him to come in, my eyes fixed on the TV.
After a moment’s hesitation, he pushed the living room door shut and hovered near one of the armchairs. We were alone together at last.
“I missed you,” he said, softly.
And I didn’t know if he meant tonight, or the last few days.
I folded my arms tightly in front of me and tried to smile.
“Yeah, me, too.”
He rubbed his head as if it ached, and took a step toward me.
I backed away, knowing that I’d crumble if I let him touch me. And I couldn’t go back to living like that.
He looked hurt and bewildered as I moved to the other side of the room, and slumped down onto the couch.
“You didn’t wear your bracelet,” he said, quietly.
“What?”
The pain in his voice tore my eyes away from the TV screen that I was pretending to watch.
“The bracelet I gave you—you’re not wearing it.”
“Oh…”
I couldn’t meet his eyes.
“Clare, I know I’ve been an idiot…”
“Yeah, you have. But that’s okay, I’m used to it.”
I was letting him off the hook, and he knew it. He gave a small smile.
“Around you I just seem to open my mouth to change feet,” he agreed.
There was an awkward silence. We’d never been uncomfortable sharing the same space, but everything had changed.
“So,” he said, shoving his hands in his pockets, “how’ve you been?”
“Bloody hell, Miles! You make it sound like you haven’t seen me for a year. I saw you a couple of hours ago.”
“Feels longer.”
True.
When I didn’t respond, he sighed heavily and went to lean against the wall by the window, staring at the wintry street outside.
I fiddled nervously with the hem of my … his … my t-shirt.
I didn’t want him here.
Except I did. And I didn’t.
“Why did you leave like that?” he said, his voice soft and a little husky.
So fucking clueless!
I felt a spike of anger. “You don’t get it, do you?”
He shrugged helplessly.
“No, I don’t. Not really.”
In that moment, I realized we were never going to square this circle. There was no point prolonging the agony.
“Well, it doesn’t matter anyway. I just … I think you should go now.”
I hated saying the words and Miles looked stunned, but a tiny germ of self-preservation was forcing its way to the surface.
“What? Now? But…” his words ended abruptly, and he rubbed the back of his neck in a familiar gesture of frustration. “Please, Clare, I’m trying here.”
I held back a sigh.
“I know. It’s just … better if you go.”
His expression morphed into one of anger.
“Why did you even bother coming tonight if you don’t want to talk to me?”
Fury, long held back, flared inside me, and I pointed an accusing finger at him.

AP - about the author.jpg

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to write. Perhaps it was growing up in a village well known for its mystery and folklore, which sparked my imagination as a child.
I enjoy writing in several different genres, and I've just published my first romcom, 'Dazzled'.
All my books have a little me in them, and I'm inspired by the personal stories of those around me. It's often from a simple discussion overheard in the train ('Exposure'), in a café, or in the street, where ideas for characters or scenes come to me.
I fell in love with both Sam ('The New Samurai') and the eponymous Sebastian in 'The Education of Sebastian' and the sequel 'The Education of Caroline', and missed them desperately once I'd finished their stories. I love writing dialogue and always try to include touches of humour in the most poignant stories.
Whether you like adult romance novels, new or young adult writing, thrillers, or fantasy, I hope you'll enjoy the journey through my stories.

Lia's Review

It pains me to admit that the first 40% of this book just didn't do it for me. I struggled with whether to continue on or abandon it. As always Jane Harvey-Berrick's writing is impeccable, the beginning of Dazzled just left me bored and wanting more. I can't quite put my finger on it, I just couldn't get into it.

Thankfully the back half of Dazzled was a masterpiece. I'm so glad I continued on with it. Friends to lovers is an all-time favorite, there aren't too many I pass up. Jane truly has a storytelling gift, her characters are real, relatable and her books fraught with emotion.

When I add the two halves of this book together, I come up with a three star rating. I really wish I would have loved the first part as much as the last.

Sonja's Review

Dirty Ugly Toy is the second book of Ms. Webster's that I have read and I can say without a doubt that it will not be my last! I was intrigued with this book from the moment I saw the title and the synopsis made me even more so and whatever expectations I had, they were completely blown out of the water. Dirty Ugly Toy was absolutely incredible and I looooooved it!

I liked Jessica pretty much immediately! She's feisty, sassy, and she keeps Brax on his toes. I loved that about her, but I also loved seeing her warm, sweet, and vulnerable sides too. It might not always seem like it, but Jessica is truly a strong heroine and I loved that about her. I was also so proud of the person she is and how much she overcame. Jessica is wonderful heroine and I just loved her!

And even though with Braxton it wasn't always easy - I loved him too! There were definitely times when he did some questionable things and oh my gosh, can he be a grade A a*shole, but I didn't always mind when he was a jerk and there's actually much more to him than the mean, angry man most people see. Brax can be so very warm and gentle, caring and playful, and so sweet he will make you ache and melt for him. I completely loved Braxton and I'm sure that he will steal your heart if you let him!

Dirty Ugly Toy will break your heart, make your blood pound, and your heart race. There were times when this book put me out of my comfort zone and made me pause for a minute or two, it had me questioning and wondering how it was all going to end, and it kept riveted the whole way through. It has its dark moments for sure, but also sweet, tender, and playful moments that make all the difference. Dirty Ugly Toy was just amazing and I can't tell you how much I loved it, but I can tell you that it is the first best book of the new year that I've read!

Dirty Ugly Toy is a standalone, it's told from Brax and Jessica's POV, and they totally get their happily-ever-after!

Lia's Review

Almost two years we waited to get our hands on this book. Phenomenal X was awesome and amazing but it also left us hanging, for quite a while. I did have to go back and skim the first book in the Hard Knocks series, just so I could refresh my memory before diving into Xavier Cold.

First impression? I was bored at the beginning and part of the middle of this book. It was just missing something that the first book had. I don't know if maybe I built it up so much in my mind or what, but it just didn't work for me. When the book finally began to pick up, I was seriously biting my nails. I kept thinking there was so many unresolved plot points that there was no way it was all going to be wrapped up with an neat, little bow in this book. That we'd be waiting for a book 3.

Well fear not, there's no massive cliffhanger. This is indeed the final installment of the sexy wrestler that is Phenomenal X. The ending was so rushed. There was so much meat left on the bones of this story. Stuff that could have been expanded on. I needed to know more. I waited so long for this book and I'm sad that I can't give it the five stars I gave the first book.
