I didn’t know that Mirage wouldn’t be a standalone until I saw The Veiled Love Duet bit on the cover and I wasn’t necessarily happy about that, but cliffhangers don’t bother me as much as they used to because they don’t always drive me crazy with that grrr-argh I need the next book right now feeling. I didn’t know how Mirage’s ending would affect me, so I wasn't completely on board when I started, but that didn’t last long before I actually got into the story. I did figure out how the ending was going to go down right before it happened and I was a little annoyed at first but now I just feel meh. Mirage has its tough moments, but it’s a good book and I’m interested in reading Clarity when it comes out to see how everything all works out.

REVIEW & PRE-ORDER: Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Title: Get a Life, Chloe Brown

Author: Talia Hibbert

Series: The Brown Sisters, #1

Publisher: Avon

Publication Date: November 5, 2019

Synopsis:

A witty, hilarious romantic comedy about a woman who’s tired of being “boring” and recruits her mysterious, sexy neighbor to help her experience new things—perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory, and Helen Hoang!

Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion. The next items?

Enjoy a drunken night out.
Ride a motorcycle.
Go camping.
Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex.
Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage.
And... do something bad.

But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job.

Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit.

But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior…

Sonja’s Review

Get a Life, Chloe Brown is utterly delightful! I’ve had this book on my kindle for months and I’m kicking myself that I just now finally read it because it was so amazing and oh man, was I missing out! I completely understand why everyone is absolutely bonkers about Talia Hibbert and as well they should be because she is a writing rock star and she is definitely one of my authors from now on. She really nailed it out of the park with Get a Life, Chloe Brown and I know it’s only February, but it’s my favorite read of the year so far and I have no doubts that it will be on my favorites of the year list by the time 2020 comes to an end.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown was heartwarming, beyond entertaining, so funny, and I enjoyed absolutely every minute of it. I really identified with Chloe, especially her grumpy, sarcastic side. I positively loved her and I loved Red just as much. He’s just the sweetest guy ever and I swooned so hard over him. Chloe and Red were wonderful characters and they go together perfectly.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown was one of those books where I fell in love with it as I was reading. It enchanted me, captivated me, and I never wanted it to end. I could have spent forever with Chloe and Red. I’m so excited for Dani and Eve’s stories though it’s hard to imagine them topping Chloe and Red, but I have faith Talia Hibbert can do it!

Pre-order Book Two
Coming June 23rd

Synopsis:

Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits—someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom.

When brooding security guard Zafir Ansari rescues Dani from a workplace fire drill gone wrong, it’s an obvious sign: PhD student Dani and ex-rugby player Zaf are destined to sleep together. But before she can explain that fact, a video of the heroic rescue goes viral. Now half the internet is shipping #DrRugbae—and Zaf is begging Dani to play along. Turns out, his sports charity for kids could really use the publicity. Lying to help children? Who on earth would refuse?

Dani’s plan is simple: fake a relationship in public, seduce Zaf behind the scenes. The trouble is, grumpy Zaf’s secretly a hopeless romantic—and he’s determined to corrupt Dani’s stone-cold realism. Before long, he’s tackling her fears into the dirt. But the former sports star has issues of his own, and the walls around his heart are as thick as his… um, thighs.

Suddenly, the easy lay Dani dreamed of is more complex than her thesis. Has her wish backfired? Is her focus being tested? Or is the universe just waiting for her to take a hint?

RELEASE BLITZ REVIEW: Lost Girl by Dee Garcia

Title: Lost Girl
Series: Rosewood Realm #2
Author: Dee Garcia
Genre: Dark Paranormal Romance
Release Date: February 11, 2020

Wendy
I was just a normal girl in a normal human world. I’d loved. I’d lost. I’d grieved, and after some time, I moved on.
Then, and quite suddenly, he returned.
He—Peter Pan, my first love; a monster in disguise.
In the end, he paid the ultimate price, but his demise wasn’t enough.
Now, I’m paying off the interest, dragged into a realm filled with wicked creatures I thought only existed in fairy tales and lores.
They want answers.
And I have none to give.
But the proverbial hourglass is draining of sand, and as darkness consumes, I find myself accepting the fact I’ll never make it home.
I’ll die at their merciless hands.
That is, until one valiant creature intervenes—leader of The Lost Boys.
The Alpha.

Tavi
Finding Wendy was by sheer chance.
From the moment I saw her, I was blasted with this fierce sense of duty.
I can’t explain it.
All I knew was, I had the save her.
So I did, brought her back to the Woodlands—The Lost Boys’ stomping grounds. But her connection to Peter leaves her as ostracized as he once found himself.
Until her mortality poses a concern, one the factions can’t ignore.
One no one has answers for, either.
Both my father and the Sacred Six warn there might not be any, but that doesn’t deter Wendy from trying to find a solution.
Despite such pressing matters, though, there’s a singular thought that incessantly crosses my mind.
Proof that fate is real.
She’s mine.
And I’ll be damned if anyone—or anything—tries to rip my little wolf away from me.

Sonja's Review

You know the feeling when you’re aware of the points you want to hit in your review, but you have no idea how to start it and and you wish you could just bare bones it and be like this is how it is, what you liked, what you didn’t, your overall feelings, etc, yet you feel like there’s no real structure to that, so you’re just stuck and tired and don’t want to think about it anymore but at the same time you don’t want to put it off because you want to get it over with since you can’t start something else until you finish this review? And when I say “you,” I obviously mean me and I’m tired and don’t care to put a nice bow on everything and I’m just going to say what I want, so here it goes.

I liked Lost Girl much more than Venom, it was without a doubt a better book. It kept me intrigued and had me glued to the pages there for quite awhile. I did not love Tavi more than Hook (Hook forever), he’s just more scrappy and less dignified than Hook and it was a little off putting for me at times, but I love him with Wendy, he’s so sweet and a total marshmallow with her. It was the complete opposites with the heroines, I loved Wendy way more than Tinksley, Wendy is just a really grounded, understanding, empathetic person — she’s the bomb. I was bummed out that there’s a mystery throughout this book that never got solved, it drives me a little crazy to think about, but I’m sure we’ll found out eventually what was going on and I will be impatiently waiting for that answer to come. That’s really all I have to say about Lost Girl other than that it was awesome and enjoyable and I can’t wait for more from this world!

NEW COVER COMING THIS FALL

Sonja's Review

I’ve been meaning to read Venom ever since my friend told me how good it was and I figured that with the release of Lost Girl, now would be the perfect time to read it. I don’t think I was as enchanted with this book as my friend, but I really did enjoy it. It took awhile before I was fully on board with Tinksley, at the beginning, she was fine, I didn’t like her at all in the middle or think she was good enough for Hook because the man is amazing, but by the end, she was a boss and totally a match for Hook. Setting those two aside though, the world that Ms. Garcia has created was very interesting and it was an aspect of this book that I always loved and I’m very excited to learn more about the world of Rosewood and see more of its characters. Venom was, on the whole, an excellent read and I’m so ready for Lost Girl — bring on Tavi and Wendy!
