Sonja's Review
I just finished This Isn't You, Baby and all I want to do is cry or cry more than I already have. I've read a lot of Ms. Webster's books, but not one of them has gut me like this one did. I follow a certain formula in the way I write my reviews, but I can't do that with This Isn't You, Baby. Although, it was difficult for me to read, it's definitely one of the most unique books I've read this year because it's not often that I do break my review-writing norm.
This Isn't You, Baby - it broke my heart, gave me that sharp ache kind of feeling, it made me cry and laugh and sob hysterically a little, and boy, did it make me angry. It made me seethe with the silent rage, it gave that kind of want-to-commit-volience anger, and I had that irrational anger and helpless frustration going on too. This Isn't You, Baby wasn't always hard to read though, it had moments that made me laugh and fall in love and really after the climax of the story, even when good things did happen, it was me who couldn't feel happy about it. So, I don't want you to take my words to heart too deeply to heart and not read this because you think it's all doom and gloom - it's not. It's angsty, it will most likely make you ugly cry, it's going to rip out your heart, and probably make you go a little cray cray, but even with all that, there is lightness and it's worth the read. I honestly don't regret it, and even if I had known what I know about it now, I still would have chosen to read it.
This Isn't You, Baby must be read after the first books in the series, it's mostly told from Brie's perspective and that's all you're getting out of me on that front, and it does end in a cliffhanger that will either drive you crazy or make you happy for the temporary break from Brie's story.
