RELEASE DAY REVIEW: Love Struck by Laurelin McGee

Welcome to a seductive world where two solo artists combine their talents-and their hearts-to make beautiful music together...

SHE'S GETTING INTO THE GROOVE
Lacy Dawson is a young singer-songwriter with a record deal, a studio gig, and a serious case of writer's block. After looking for love songs in all the wrong places, she finds inspiration at an online support group called Song Writers Anonymous. Thanks to one mysterious member who motivates her and inspires her, Lacy's career is back on track. But is she ready to meet her sexy musical muse...face to face?

HE MAKES HER HEART SKIP A BEAT
Eli is definitely interested in hooking up with Lacy, aka "LoveCoda." But between writing her new album and his band's success, they can't find the time to face the music-or each other-about their burgeoning online romance. All that changes when Eli and Lucy get booked on tour together. In person, the attraction is all too real and explosive. They both should walk away, but once they are in each other's arms, there is no turning back...

Sonja's Review

Man, it was so good to read two Ms. McGee books in a row! Although, I am a little bummed out that that means I won't have another new one to read whenever I want, but it was totally worth it to not hold off on reading Love Struck. It was another home run for Laurelin McGee and just amazing!

I loved Lacy, but OMG, that girl can just be a little frustrating sometimes! I wanted to shake some sense into her and there was a lot of moaning and groaning, shaking my head, and smacking my forehead. Lacy definitely has her moments that will make you do all of that and times where you'll wonder what she could possibly be thinking, but don't worry, she has her good moments too. I know I haven't made her seem like a great heroine, but she really was and I really did love her and enjoy being in her head.

I usually prefer my heroes to be total possessive, dominant alphas and while Eli hasn't completely changed my mind about that, I do have to say that I absolutely loved his sweet, sensitive nature! He does have his alpha-like moments though, but I preferred his romantic, sweet side more. I really didn't have any complaints about Eli - he's practically perfect except for a few things, but he remedies them and becomes an even greater man than he already was. Eli is just wonderful and he'll have you melting and falling in love with him in no time!

There is quite a difference between Love Struck and Miss Match and even misTaken. Love Struck isn't as light and funny - it's more serious and more emotionally draining. It will still make you laugh, but it's heartbreaking and frustrating and it will definitely keep on your guard wondering what the next "Plot Twist" is going to bring even when you know what's likely coming. Love Struck is by no means an easy read, but that's what makes it so fantastic and worth it all in the end!

Love Struck is a standalone but I would recommend at least reading Miss Match before starting this one. It's told in Eli and Lacy's POV and they do get their happily-ever-after.
