REVIEW TOUR: Ink & Lies by S.L. Jennings

Ink & Lies FOR WEB

Ink & Lies

by S.L. Jennings

Release Day: February 9th, 2016

Synopsis

From International Best Selling Romance Novelist, Hope Hughes, comes a gripping, heartfelt tale of two lovers, fighting for the freedom to…

No. Scratch that. Too cheesy.

…two people, torn apart by the tumultuous tides of life, only to discover refuge in…

WTF? What does that even mean? DELETE.

…two people, confused as shit as to where they should be and who they should love and none of this means a damn thing because it’s all lies!

Lies.

I’m not Hope Hughes. I’m not some fierce woman romance machine. Hell, I’m not even a woman.

I’m a liar.

And while I refuse to believe my own BS, deceit masked in heartfelt phrases of love and devotion, I want to make her believe them. Because maybe—just maybe—if she can find the soul within my words, she’ll also be able to find the truth scribbled on my heart.

You see, I once lived for the perfect plot twist. I just never expected to actually live it. This is my story. Well, maybe her story. I just wish I could make it our story.

The one I’m still writing.

Sonja'sReview

I've been meaning to read S.L. Jennings for a while now, so I immediately jumped at the chance to review Ink & Lies as soon as I saw it! I was really excited after I read the synopsis and that cover - mmm - it just made me want to take a bite out of it and read it even more. Now, Ink & Lies and I got off to really a bumpy start - so bumpy, in fact, that I actually had to take a step away and read a few books before I came back to it. I'll admit I was reluctant to start it again and I considered putting it off, but in the end, I decided that it was better to just get it over with and I was also hoping that it would get better - for me, anyway - and I am so glad that I did because it did get better, sooo much better, and I can honestly saw that I loved it and I will definitely read S.L. Jennings in the future!

Since we don't know who the heroine is from reading the synopsis and even though that bugged me not knowing for sure, for sure, I don't want to spoil it for you, so I won't tell you who she is. But I was really only frustrated though because I didn't care for the woman who I thought was going to be the heroine. It turned out that I didn't really mind her when I started reading again, but she still wasn't my favorite person. I even liked that she didn't give into August the first time he tried to win her, but she was just okay to me. If I wasn't so loyal to August, I might feel differently about her, but he's my guy and I can be petty and vindictive sometimes, but I am happy that he got what he wanted in the end.

Well, you already know that I loved August, but there were a few times where the man got on my nerves too. He's a little cray cray and doesn't want to believe in love, but you and everybody else knows that he doesn't truly believe all his talk. I didn't love everything about August, but I also didn't blame him for the way he handled things at times. It helped being inside his head and knowing what he felt about things. He's not the best hero in the world and he makes mistakes, but he's so sweet and the kind of guy you would want in your corner, plus he has a way with words that will make you melt!

Ink & Lies didn't start out very good for me and although I was a little unsatisfied with the heroine by the end, I was happy that we got the HEA. And by 50 percent, I literally could not tear myself away from reading. It broke my heart and made it ache, it made me cry, and I hung onto every word, thought, and feeling. It might have lasted only for a moment or maybe a little longer but August accomplished what he set out to do - he made me fall in love with this story.
