Synopsis: They said they would try. They said they would give their love a chance. But when the mistakes of Gabriel's past clashed with Nicole's hopes for the future, they realized love wasn't enough. They tied up the loose ends of their broken hearts and walked away. Now, Gabriel's career is on a meteoric rise and he is back to his bachelor ways. He told Nicole he couldn't promise forever and did his best to let her go, but these days he wonders if he spoke too soon. Nicole has a new life, a new man, and she refuses to look back. To everyone around her though, not looking back looks an awful lot like running scared from the past. With Jackie and Ian's wedding approaching, a reunion between the best man and the maid of honor is to be expected. What they don't expect is for the olive branch of friendship to catch fire with a love and need that is stronger than even their best intentions. They called it quits. But is it really over? They still love each other. But does that even matter when they've made up their minds that there's no going back?

*NOTE* Mind Over Matter is the third and final book in the Loose Ends series.

Sonja's Review

When I read #1 Crush in December last year, I had absolutely no idea that the two books to follow it, Closer and Mind Over Matter, would turn out to be so much more than I expected. I feel like I just went through a long battle full of heartbreak, desperation, frustration, laughter, happiness, and tears. It was by no means an easy ride, but I'm so glad that I got to be a part of Gabriel and Nicole's journey. This was an amazing book - it was an amazing story with so much life in it that I don't know how Ms. Bennett did it.
I usually talk about the heroine and the hero separately in my reviews, but I'm going to do it differently this time and talk about both them together because they both brought out a lot of the same emotions in me.
Nicole and Gabriel broke my heart, they frustrated me, and made me yell and cry at the choices they made. All I wanted was for them to get over their fear and just be together. There were times when I really didn't like them, when I wasn't proud of them, and times when they would make me start really believing their happy ending was so close and then they would completely dash those hopes. You're not going to like every move they make, you'll probably downright hate some of them, but it was so way far beyond worth it see them grow, take a chance, and be brave enough to grab onto their love with the fierce determination to never let it go ever again. Gabriel and Nicole may not have always been my favorite people, but they were real and I never stopped rooting for them to be together even during the really hard moments.
Mind Over Matter consumed and captured me so thoroughly that not one piece of me wasn't invested in this story. It ripped my heart out, beat it raw, and stomped on it before it put back together again. It made me rage and cry everything from sad tears to hysterical ones to happy relief-filled tears. It made me laugh, smile so much sometimes that I couldn't stop, and when Gabriel and Nicole finally got together? It was like: "Praise Jesus, Hallelujah, Amen!" It was a weight lifted off of my shoulders and I could not have been happier! Mind Over Matter is a beautiful, heartbreaking, moving story about making mistakes, learning from them, finding yourself, taking and getting second chances, and of course, true love.
Mind Over Matter is the final book in the Loose Ends series and it must be read last. It's told from Gabriel and Nicole's POV, and I say this with love, but it's about d**n time they got their HEA and I can't wait to see what Ms. Bennett comes up with next!
