The Wife, in Five Words
Romantic- While there is of heartbreak in “The Wife”, it’s also a story of a special kind of love that transcends time and sadness.
Connected- “The Wife” is a book that I think anyone can connect with who has ever been in love.  It will rock your emotions and leave you with a book hangover
Reflective- Alexa looks back at her life and the decisions she’s made over the years, wondering if her life would be any different if she let go of her fears and listened to her heart.
Addictive- The story comes together in a way, that it makes it hard to find a place to stop and get something done in your house, rather than sit and get sucked into the heart-breaking story.
Marriage- “The Wife” is a story about a woman struggling to keep her family together at a time when her husband is drifting further and further away from her heart.

The Wife, the Story Behind the Story
I began thinking about “The Wife” a little over a year ago.  I’m at the point in my life where some of my friends are beginning to divorce or struggle in their marriages.  I listened as they struggled with the “right thing to do” and with the constant opinions and criticisms of others looking in from the outside.  I felt for everyone involved and the turns marriages can take when both partners aren’t working together to keep the family together.  While nothing that happens in the story has to do with the relationships of my friends and family, I used the conversations I heard and was a part of as inspiration to develop this dramatic story of love and redemption.
“The Wife’s” main setting is in Orange County, California, however, it does go back to Mantaloking, New Jersey, which is the setting for almost all my books.  This also means that I’ve continued with my tradition of having characters from my other books make a cameo in this one!
This story just poured from me.  I had the story outlined in a day and began writing almost day and night.  It was the easiest book for me to write, and also the most emotional…and I’ve written emotional books before.  It is a book that anyone who has ever been in love will connect with, and twist your heart in the best possible way.  I still can’t listen to “Believe” from Mumford and Sons, without getting chills.
