Subject: You’re a flippin’ idiot

Good morning my dear, naive friend,

I hope you’re enjoying a breakfast of regret and sorrow.

Why?

Because you sent me to work for Dean Harper, aka a control freak in a tailor-made suit. Sure he owns the trendiest restaurants in NYC, but c'mon Jo, his ego makes Kanye West look like the Dalai Lama.

He's the type of guy that only hears the word “no” when it's followed by “don’t stop.”

Working for Dean Harper would be like selling my soul to the devil…and before you say anything, I don’t care if the devil has punch-you-in-the-gut brown eyes and an ass to match. My soul isn’t for sale.

Regretfully yours,
Lily

The Allure of Dean Harper is a full-length standalone romance with overlapping characters from The Allure of Julian Lefray. Both books can be read separately. Chronologically, The Allure of Julian Lefray happens first.

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things...everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things funny. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

Sonja's Review

I joined the Indie Book World about two years ago and in that time I have seen Ms. Grey become a more popular, must read author - so with seeing tons of people going crazy over her stories and of course, because of the stories themselves - I put her on my ATR (Authors to Read) list. And when I saw that Southern Belle Promotions was doing her cover reveal, I immediately signed up for it and stalked their email list of sign-ups until I finally saw it one day and filled it out as fast as I could! I was so excited to read The Allure of Dean Harper that I didn't even really read the synopsis, but when I started reading it, it didn't matter because I loved it! I started reading a few hours before I had to go to bed and let me tell you that was not the best idea because I didn't even want to go to sleep, I was enjoying it so much! I never wanted it to end and even though I felt a different reading it the next day because of something that happened, that still could not have stopped me from loving and enjoying this book completely!

I absolutely loved Lily! She is fierce, strong, and she isn't afraid to speak her mind or challenge Dean. She's hilarious and so deviously evil sometimes - I just loved it (cue my own laugh here)! Lily is a just fun, fiery, confident but still vulnerable, awesome heroine and I wouldn't want to change one single thing about her!

Oh, man, that Dean Harper can be a real a*shole sometimes, but I loved it sometimes and I loved him! The best way to describe Dean can be summed up in one word: stubborn. Oh my gosh, that man is so stubborn and a little lost in what he thinks he wants that he can't really see that what he actually wants is Lily, but once he pulls his head out of the clouds, he goes all out to prove himself to her. He's definitely not funny or kind or sweet all the time, but man when he is, he'll make you melt. Dean is a great hero and I loved him!

I had no idea this would be a love/hate, always-fighting type relationship because I didn't read the blurb, so I was overjoyed when I figured out that that was the relationship between Dean and Lily in The Allure of Dean Harper! I just absolutely love that trope and it was so fun seeing them go head to head. There was so much passion and tension and I was really hoping for and expecting a sexy explosion when they finally came together. I'm sad to say that I didn't get my explosion and I'll admit that I was really disappointed about that. I still loved and enjoyed it, but I didn't feel the same level of excitement as I did the night before and I couldn't fully connect to Dean and Lily's relationship - I felt like an outsider in that aspect, but only in that aspect.

The Allure of Dean Harper had me laughing my butt off a lot in the beginning and all the way through, it never failed to bring out my emotions from sadness and happiness to amusement and contented-ness. It was a hilarious, passionate, slightly steamy, amazing book and I truly can't wait to read more of Ms. Grey books!

The Allure of Dean Harper is a standalone, it's told from Dean and Lily's POV, and they do get their HEA!

~ 4.5 Stars
