Sheridan “Dani” Reed is a recently unemployed photojournalist living in New York City. Her boyfriend is vacationing without her, and her best friend has abandoned her for a job in the south.
Is a quarter-life crisis a thing?
After accepting a freelance job in Louisiana for Southern Style magazine, she feels the bleakness of her life back in New York fading in the rearview mirror. Getting back to her southern roots seems to be just what she needs to lift her spirits and spark her creativity. During her stay, she meets playboy Micah Landry and his colorful family. She knows she should avoid him and keep things professional, but his southern charms are hard to resist.
Through the lens of her camera, she finds the beauty and soul of the Landry Plantation, but it’s her beauty and soul that capture Micah’s attention.
When an unexpected phone call takes her back to New York, she’s forced to face the life she was trying to escape head on.
Will her trip and the Landrys only become fond memories, or will Dani find her way back to them and her beloved south?
In their debut novel, Jiffy Kate bring you a story of love, adventure, and finding a place to call home.

When a picture of the pond pops up on the screen, my breath hitches in my chest. With the moon beaming down and reflecting off the glass-like water, it’s more than beautiful. It’s tranquil, peaceful, but most of all, it reminds me of her. I can almost see us there, our feet hanging off the side, our shoulders grazing every once in a while. She looked so gorgeous in the moonlight. I wish I had a picture of that, but this is a close second.
“That looks like something straight out of a magazine,” I whisper before I realize what I’m saying.
“Hopefully, it will be.” She laughs.
“How much for a print of that?” I ask.
“Really? You’d want—”
“Yes,” I cut her off, “I’d love to have one of your pictures.”
“Well, it’s yours. I’ll order the prints once I’m back in New York and have them sent directly to you.”
“Let me pay.”
“No, it’s my pleasure. Really.”
“Give me your phone,” I instruct, and she willingly hands it over. I put my phone number in as a new contact and shoot myself a text before handing it back. “I have your number now, so I’ll text you my address.”
“Okay,” she says, smiling.
“Okay.” For the hundredth time today, I find myself staring at her lips for longer than necessary, wanting to bend down and kiss the shit out of her. She swallows hard and I abruptly break my gaze. Turning around, I leave in search of something to do before I get myself in trouble.

First things first, we're the realest.
Oh, wait. Iggy already used that one.
Well, let's see...
What some people don't know is there are two of us and we're both Jennifers. How lucky are we? The most common name from the 70's! Our parents were so original.
We found each other through Twilight and tornadoes. Sounds like a crazy combination, but it's true. We were roaming around in the same groups of people on social media, but we hadn't really became friends. But that all changed on a stormy Oklahoma night when we noticed that we were both experiencing the same tornado warnings.
We met a week later for lunch and the rest is history. We already knew we had the whole Twilight thing in common, but what we learned that day is that we both loved music and traveling. Together, we've been everywhere. Well, not everywhere, but a lot of places...Seattle, Forks, LA, New York, Chicago, Philly, Nashville, and New Orleans, where our hearts reside.
About six months after we met, we also realized we both had a passion for writing. When we started outlining our first story, we thought that would be it. One story and done. So, we dumped everything we loved into those 100,000 words. If you're familiar with the term "crack fic", that was kind of what it was for us. We had fun with it and let ourselves live on those pages.
But it was like Lays potato chips.
We couldn't write just one.
So, twenty stories later, here we are--publishing our first novel. And how crazy is it that we went back to the beginning.
Finding Focus was originally a Twilight Fan Fic titled Southern Comfort.

One night was all it took for everything to fall apart.
Can one moment be all that’s needed to repair it?

“Does this mean what I think it means?”
My head shakes on his chest when he laughs. I look up at him and flick his nose.
“Yeah, princess. Go find it.”
I bite the inside of my cheek then press a hard kiss to his lips, hop off the couch, and run to grab my laptop. Once I have it, I sit at the kitchen table and power it on, tapping my fingers anxiously. Liam stands behind me and places his hands on my shoulders, gently rubbing them, his thumbs kneading into my back. My head falls forward for a moment, and I let him take my stress away.
Too excited to wait any longer, I roll my head back up and type in the address bar. Once I scroll through the website and see one that stands out, I point at it. “You like it?”
“I don’t care. I already told you this.”
“Liam, it’s a house, not a shirt. You have to have an opinion.”
“My opinion is that I don’t care what the house looks like as long as you’re in it.”
God, I love this man. He always said that we’d buy a house when he finished with his tour. In my mind, I was prepared to wait, so there was no way I could contain my excitement that I get to start house hunting now. I’ve always had this vision of what I want my house to look like.
“Give me something. Anything. Please, Lee. I want you to like it, too.”
“All right.” He kisses the top of my head and sits next to me. “I want privacy. If there’s not a fence already, I’ll build one, and I want some land. I don’t want the neighbors to be able to look over and see me fucking you.”
“Ha-ha.”
“Think I’m joking?” The screeching of the metal chair legs pierces my ears when he turns it so my body is in front of his. He grips my upper arms, looking right at me to make sure I see him, too. “I’ve gone seven years not being able to have you whenever I want you. Seven horrific years of fucking my own hand almost daily when I only got to be inside you every three or four months. Do you have any idea how much I want you? Constantly.” He answers without giving me a chance to speak as his fingers tighten on my arms. “You are always on my mind. Your face. Your smile. Your smartass mouth. Your body. And just thinking about you constantly makes me hard. Can you imagine how it’s going to be living together, waking up next to each other, and sleeping in the same bed every night?”
I squirm in my chair, wetness quickly dampening my underwear. He trails a couple of fingers down my arm and grabs my wrist then places my hand on his rock hard dick. With his hand on top of mine, he squeezes.
“It’s always like this for you. Only you. Doesn’t matter how many whores or groupies walk around backstage half naked. You’re the only one who can ever do this to me. Always have been and always will be. And if I know I get to come home and touch you, love you, fuck you every day for the rest of my life … Princess, it doesn’t matter where it is or what it looks like as long as you’re there.”
Anna began writing when she thought the world would want to hear her sick lyrics through song. Since then, she's realized her childhood dream wasn't so far-fetched, just misguided. Now she writes romance with real emotions and happy endings. If Anna isn't writing or reading, she can be found by a space heater painting her nails and drinking a ridiculous amount of Diet Dr Pepper. She also likes to hang out with her husband and two boys. If it wasn't for them, she wouldn't ever leave the house. Anna was born in Wisconsin but now lives in the Evergreen State.

Synopsis:
Levi Black is an s.o.b.

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he’s a pretentious, obnoxious, womanizing jacka** who thinks the world revolves around him.

He wouldn’t be wrong.

A famous soccer player, his skills on and off the field have won him medals, trophies, women, and the cover of every heartthrob magazine in the country. He’s broken nearly every bone in his body and a few hearts along the way, including mine—his stepsister—and lived to tell about it.

One night changed everything, and I’ve avoided him like the plague ever since. Just long enough to finish college, to bury the hurt, and to outrun the memories. But now that’s all changed. I’m back, and there’s no more running.

My hands are supposed to be my livelihood, but now they’re my curse. Levi’s reckless ways have landed him in a sticky situation, and his father has given me an offer I can’t refuse. One month, and all I have to do is put my hands on his body. Easier said than done. The problem is, even though I know it’s bound to bite me in the a**, I can’t bring myself to say no to the s.o.b.

EXCERPT
“What the hell are you doing in here? Get out!”
Levi is leaning in my open doorway—a door I know I closed when I went to bed last night. Or tried to. It took hours, listening to him and his “friends” laughing and making all kinds of racket, before I finally managed to fall asleep.
Now, he’s standing in my bedroom, half naked, and looking at me like I’m something he wants to kill. Or eat.
My thighs clench at the thought of Levi putting his mouth on me. The last time—no. I shut the thought down before it has a chance to go too far. It’s inappropriate. This whole situation right now is inappropriate.
“Get out!” I shout again, because he just continues to stand there, completely stoic. Unreadable. “Are you high?” Along with the rest of the world, I’ve witnessed the kind of life he leads: late nights, partying, an endless supply of women. The possibility that he’s actually high right now isn’t that far-fetched.
Why does he have to look so damn good, though?
Levi’s shirtless chest moves in a silent huff and a humorless smirk makes his lips twitch. And that damn beard. It’s distracting. I’ve only ever seen him clean shaven, but this look is even better. He looks rough. Dirty. Mountable.
Lifting his arm to his head, he rakes his fingers through his hair, making it messier than it already was. The action makes his bicep flex, showing off a massive bump, and creates a long visual line that draws my gaze down over his sculpted chest and abs to the pair of sweat pants that hang so low, I can see damn near everything.
As my eyes land between his legs, it begins to grow. My throat turns into a desert and I swallow, tearing my eyes away as I cast the inappropriate thoughts the vision inspires away. Or at least I try to. They keep sling shooting back, taunting me. Just look at it. One little peek. No!
It should be illegal to walk around like that. In fact, he should be thrown in jail for assault. I’ll never get the vision of him like this out of my head.
I hear Levi’s soft chuckle and jerk to attention.
“You should see your face right now,” he says, his voice mocking. “You behave like you’ve never seen my dick before, which we both know isn’t true. Or,” he says, his voice pitching low as he pushes off the jamb and stands tall, putting that hard bulge on full display, “maybe you just want another taste.”
Yes, please. The heat in my face deepens. I do want it. I won’t deny that, but I refuse to let him drag me any deeper into the rabbit hole or humiliate me over something we both know we want but can’t have.

Lia's Review

When the step-brother romance genre popped up I was so enamored with them. I devoured countless tales of their forbidden love. And then they got a little tired and didn't entertain me as much, so I moved away from reading them. There was just something about S.O.B. that called to me. The beautiful cover, the awesome blurb. BOOM! I was right back in the thick of it.

Let me tell you, S.O.B. is freaking awesome! The characters, the chemistry, the story. It's so full of emotion, and I really wasn't expecting that. It's funny, it's sexy. It's an all around amazing read. This book pulled me out of my step-brother slump. I loved, loved, loved this book! It's been a long time since I've been able to give a step-brother story a five star rating. But that's exactly what S.O.B. deserves. Kudos, J.C. Valentine!

“Fine.  What about a favor, huh?  Friends do favors for each other all the time, don’t they?” Mack volleyed smoothly, studying her.  “How about you do me this favor, Millicent?  You won’t deny me that, will you?  Especially since you’re the one that got me into this predicament.”
“No, I suppose not.  I’d be happy to spend the holidays with you and your family.”
“Same here,” he admitted softly.  “Now, how do you feel about you and Paisley helping me decorate my place tomorrow?  It’s Saturday.  We both have the day off unless one of my patients decides to go into labor, and since nobody is that close to delivery yet, I think we’re pretty clear there.   My family expects to fly into Paradise and find my home a completely undecorated mess.  I’d love to knock my sister down a peg or two and surprise her with a perfectly designed Winter Wonderland.  Really, this is the least you could do,” he grumbled when Millie didn’t make a peep.  “Let me remind you once more that this shit is all your fault.”
“Such a sweet talker.”  Millie sighed dramatically and batted her eyelashes demurely.  “You sure know how to charm a girl.”
“My ex-wife used to say the same thing,” he reminisced.
You were married?  For real?  To a woman?”  Millie gaped in stunned disbelief, unable to imagine this male as a part of a couple.  Sure, she’d had her fantasies about her sexy boss.  Of course she had!  He was hot.  Lean and muscular in all the right places.  And she’d bet her right pinky toe that he was hung like a horse.  But that’s where the fantasy ended.  Because in addition to all she fantasized about, Mackenzie Daniels was also surly, stubborn and an all-around Gloomy Gus on most all the days that ended in Y.
“For your sake, lady, I’m going to choose not to be offended here,” Mack returned mockingly as he fought a grin.  “You don’t need to look quite so astonished; I’m not exactly an ogre, Mills.”
Staring up at him, Millie took stock of the Doc’s high, chiseled cheekbones, his dimpled chin, his square jaw and his perfectly sculpted, extremely kissable lips and she had to agree.  “No, definitely not an ogre,” she whispered, as her tongue darted out to lick her suddenly dry lips.  “What I meant to say is that I just never imagined anyone that valued his solitude and privacy as much as you do married to anyone.”
“I do enjoy my solitude and privacy, but I’m also a guy, Millie.   I do like to fuck.”
Millie nearly choked on her tongue.  “Women, right?”
“Yes, women!  Did you assume I was asexual?  Or did you think I was gay?  Do I strike you as a latent homosexual, Millie?” he asked as his steady gaze connected with her nervous one.
“N-no, but if you did swing that way, you should know that Paradise has this lovely florist that’s been looking for love in all the wrong places,” she managed to impart through her mostly frozen lips.
“He’ll have to keep lookin’ then because I’m straight as an arrow, woman,” Mack growled, his eyes skating hungrily over her pretty face.
“Doc, why are you tellin’ me this stuff?” Millie asked, trying desperately to understand where and when this new and open Mackenzie had emerged.  Would she find the ‘Old Mackenzie’ collapsed at his desk in the office?  Was she hallucinating?  What exactly had been in her sandwich from the diner?
“That’s what friends do, right?  Share and shit like that?” he asked with a careless shrug.
“I reckon,” Millie mumbled.  “But maybe we should think about getting back to the office.  It’s almost two and you’ve got a 2:30 with Sandy Bingham.”  Honestly, she was more than a little nervous standing here with him because suddenly Mack was eyeing her like she was a steak and he was a very hungry animal.  And crazily enough, she found herself not minding in the least the idea of being his meal.
Ignoring her reminder of his afternoon appointment, he kept staring at her.  “So, is that a yes to spending tomorrow with me?”
“I… uh…. I guess, if that’s really what you want,” she agreed, her cheeks blushing as she tried to make herself stop fidgeting like a teenage girl being asked on her first date.
“What about tonight?  Are you busy tonight?” he asked.
“I don’t think so.  Why?”
“Because, you haven’t seen my place.  I want to show it to you so that you can get an idea of what we’ll need.  I’ll even feed you if you’ll agree to help me out,” he offered calmly.
“I…you’re sure about this?” she asked, not quite able to believe that this man was volunteering to spend time with her.  Or hell, with anybody really.  Mack was a loner.  Everyone, including her, knew it.  He’d already knocked her off her axis with the news that he’d once had a wife.  Now, he was acting like -- dare she even imagine it – like he was actually interested in her?
“I’m positive.  And maybe tonight could be an adults-only evening since tomorrow will be kid-friendly,” he suggested smoothly.
“Uhmmm – okay,” she agreed slowly, nodding.  “I’m sure my mom and dad won’t mind watching Paisley for a few hours.”
“Good,” Mack declared with a satisfied nod as he reached around Millie to open the vehicle’s door for her.  “Then I’ll pick you up at your place around six.  Is that enough time to get off work and get Paisley to your parents’ house?”
Millie nodded as she began to climb into the cab of the truck, her mind reeling as she tried to keep up with their conversation.  Things were happening so quickly that she felt like she’d somehow fallen into an alternate universe – one where sexy-as-sin doctors wanted to spend time with her outside of work.  “Yeah, that’ll be…great,” she acknowledged, her voice a little shaky.  Offering him a dazed look, she shook her head.
“What?” he growled in that surly voice she knew so well.
“I don’t understand what’s happening here, Doc,” she said truthfully.  “Have you just asked me out on a date?” she asked, her eyes twinkling with enthusiasm as her heart pounded in her chest.
Mack’s face flushed and he shrugged.  “Why is it so important to women to label everything?  We’re gonna share a meal tonight.  If you wanna call it a date, I can’t stop you,” he declared before slamming the door on her reply.
“I’ll be damned,” Millie muttered to herself as she watched him slowly circle the SUV to reach the driver’s side.  “It’s an honest-to-God Christmas miracle.”
