But, sweetheart, I ain’t any of those guys...” ~ Zeke Declan
Every girl in Galveston County knows about Zeke Declan’s rules and has agreed to them or is considering them.
Rule #1 Don’t call him. He’ll call you.
Rule #2 He doesn’t date.
Rule #3 No sleepovers.
Rule #4 Absolutely, no virgins.
When a couple friends talk me into going back to their hometown in the Bayou for the summer and challenge me to break “the best damn lay in Galveston County” along with every single one of his ridiculous rules, I’m confident that I can get the job done. I’m no stranger to men. I have five older brothers. I’m a teacher and I’m used to being around rebellious teenagers. However, Zeke Declan is definitely not someone that I could have prepared for. He’s not a testosterone-fueled, immature boy. He’s a confident, arousing, playful, and mind-melting man. But, behind that sexy charming smile, I know he’s hiding a secret. And, in order to break him, I’m going to need to find out what it is...
Kelly Gendron is the author of the TroubleMaker series, Breaking the Declan Brothers series, and a few other romantic suspense novels.
When she's not writing steamy, blush producing romances, she's out meeting new people while representing a group of reputable nursing facilities. You can find Kelly in a quiet suburb, somewhere between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. If you Google her, she’ll pop up there too. And, please do find her. Kelly loves to hear from her readers, and meeting new people.
I have loved the Breaking the Declan Brothers series from the moment I read Jax and I have fallen even more in love with each new brother's book! It just got better the more I read about these brothers and their women's lives and Zeke was no different. Ms. Gendron, despite leaving us with maddening cliffhangers and making the wait torture, definitely saved the best book for last! Zeke was amazing and is no doubt my favorite!
I've always liked Lurlene and I was so excited to finally be in her head and she did not disappoint me! She's totally my favorite - she is just awesome! Lurlene is definitely sweet and bookish, but don't let that fool you because that girl has some wild on her. She's feisty and strong and she doesn't make it easy for Zeke, she makes him work for it - it was as she and her student would say, "Super coolage!" I loved Lurlene's feisty side but it was really her sweetness and lightness that really made me love her. She has a wonderful heart and she's beautiful inside and out!
Just like I was excited to get in Lurlene's head, I couldn't wait to meet Zeke either! I've always loved the charming, sexy youngest brother and I could only fall harder for him when it was his turn in the spotlight. There is so much more to Zeke than meets the eye - yes, he's a player but he's also so charming and funny and playful and smart that you just can't help but be happy and want to be around him. I loved how fun he was but I loved how sweet and romantic he could be even more. Zeke completely stole, broke, and melted my heart and I know he'll do the same to you!
After the bomb that Ms. Gendron dropped on us at the end of Slate, I couldn't wait to read Zeke! I was so excited for it and it met and exceeded all my expectations. It surprised me, made me gasp, broke my heart, and made me want to cry sometimes, but it made me laugh and it entertained me. It's for sure my favorite in the series and a big part of that is because I loved how Zeke and Lurlene were with each other - they became friends before they were something else and although this one wasn't as steamy as Jax or Slate, I actually really loved that more because it was easy to see how strong the connection between them was and it was just sweet.
Zeke is told from Zeke and Lurlene's POV and they are living their happily-ever-after. Zeke is the third and last book in the Breaking the Declan Brothers series and it should be read in order. I'm going to miss these brothers and their ladies, but I can't wait to read the series Ms. Gendron is writing next!
