REVIEW: Beautifully Decadent by L.A. Fiore

Title: Beautifully Decadent
Author: L.A. Fiore
Series: Beautifully Damaged, #3
Publication Date: June 28, 2016

Synopsis:
Avery Collins has just landed her dream job, pastry chef for the posh-Manhattan restaurant Clover. Her new boss, Trace Montgomery, even helped with securing her an affordable place to live: a beautifully restored carriage house owned by his friend, Rafe McKenzie—a man that makes her catch her breath and stirs her imagination. Trouble is, he's involved with someone, his father is being released after 25 years in prison and Avery is just his tenant. Exploring the attraction that sizzles whenever they're together would be the icing on the cake, but Avery knows all too well that you can't have everything. Of course, what's cake without icing?

Rafe McKenzie's world shattered at nine when his father Liam—the only parent he knew—was arrested and convicted for armed robbery. Growing up in the system, Rafe managed to survive his childhood and now has a job he enjoys, a house he's restoring and a tight circle of friends. He's even working on reconciling with his dad, both eager to put the past in the past.

Happy for the income a tenant would bring, Rafe agrees to rent his carriage house to Clover's new pastry chef. When Avery Collins pulls up his drive, she's not at all what he's expecting. Funny, sexy and as sweet as her desserts, it doesn't take long for things between them to heat up. Just when it seems as if they'll have their cake and eat it too, the past comes back with deadly intent leaving Rafe to figure out who's pulling the strings before his world shatters again.

This book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Sonja's Review

Okay - I'll admit it - I wanted to read Beautifully Decadent because of the cover. I was going through sugar withdrawals, watching the Food Network and I took one look at that cover and I was a goner! I wanted to eat it and even though I'm over my sugar withdrawal, any time I see that delicious-looking cupcake on the front, I still want to eat it. But while my motives for wanting to read Beautifully Decadent might not have started out pure, as soon as I started it that all changed. I wholeheartedly fell in love with the story - it was just spectacular!

And I usually save my favorite character for last to talk about, but I honestly can't tell you who I loved more between Rafe and Avery, so just know that I loved them a lot, like a lot a lot and I'm talking about Avery first as a ladies-first kind of deal instead of Rafe-is-without-a-doubt-my-fave-so-he-goes-last kind of situation.

So now for talking about Avery - I cannot tell you much I loved this woman! She's silly, funny, goofy (as Rafe will say more than once), and has a heart of gold that is so full of warmth, she will just make you so happy whenever you're in her head and even whenever you're not. Avery has such a huge personality that she feels like a real person and boy, do I wish that were true because she is totally amazeballs!

And Rafe! Not only is the man sexy, but he's also sweet and kind and he loves everything about Avery. He is so great and supportive and thoughtful. Rafe knows how special Avery is both as a person and to him and he appreciates her. He's just protective and loving and caring - he's wonderful and I absolutely loved him!

While Beautifully Decadent may have made my heart ache sometimes and shed a few tears, for most of it though, it had me smiling and laughing and grinning. I just had so much fun reading it - I never wanted to stop and whenever I did, I could NOT wait to get back to it! I loved every second of this book and it feels like it's been awhile for me since that happened, so it only makes me love it even more! Beautifully Decadent was a beautiful, heartwarming, entertaining, incredible read and I can't wait to read more from Ms. Fiore - although it's hard to imagine a time when this book won't ever not be my favorite of hers!

Beautifully Decadent can be read as a standalone, it's told from Rafe's and Avery's POV, and their happy ending had me grinning from ear to ear and feeling the warm tinglies inside!
