Sonja's Review
When I saw Love Uncivilized in the suggestions selection box on Goodreads for a book I was looking at, I immediately screamed and scrambled to click on it! I could hardly contain my excitement and I couldn't wait to see Zach and Moira again because I absolutely loved Uncivilized! I was just looking so forward to reading it and boy, was I in for a surprise because it turned out to be completely different than I what I was expecting.
I went into Love Uncivilized knowing that Zach and Moira were going to have issues, obviously, but I guess I was expecting Zach to go all dominant, uncivilized caveman style with some super hot sexy times to get things back on track, but I didn't really feel like that happened. It started shaping out to be that way in the beginning, but then it morphed into something else and the hot, short, fun book I imagined I would be reading wasn't like that at all. I mean, yes, there were steamy moments, Zach's wild side did come out a little, and there were moments that I enjoyed, but I kind of felt like Sisyphus from Greek mythology who was doomed to forever push the boulder up the hill only to have it immediately roll back down as soon as he got to the top because I would feel like Zach and Moira would be at the top, in a good place to fix things and then something would happen that would land them back at the bottom. It was just a constant game of tug of war and it really took a toll on me.
Love Uncivilized was not easy to read and it was actually even harder for me to read than Uncivilized because of how it affected my heart. It gave me heartburn, made my heart pound and thrum in my ears at times, and for most of the book I worried that Zach and Moira wouldn't get back to where they used to or to an even better place, but I didn't really worry, worry because even with all the highs and lows, I still felt the magic they had. It wasn't until the very last low point that I felt like Zach and Moira lost their magic and when the story was wrapping up so that they would be okay, I was hoping that it would be enough to get their magic back, but it wasn't and that really got to me and left me feeling sad even though the story ended happily.
Love Uncivilized is a standalone, but it would be better read after Uncivilized. It is told in Zach and Moira's POV. I think they will work through their issues completely and they won't get so lost again and even though I felt about this book the way that I did, that doesn't mean that it won't be different for you and it is definitely not going to stop me from reading more Sawyer Bennett! I will read anything she writes - I just love her!
