Sonja's Review

One of my close book friends was lucky enough to beta read Waking Olivia and she suggested that I read it because she loved it and I am so glad that she did because I loooooved it!! I never wanted to stop reading it and when I did have to (although sometimes I kept reading when I technically shouldn't have, but shh, don't tell anyone) I couldn't wait to get back to it! It was just an exceptional read and I have no doubts that I will be a fan of Elizabeth O'Roark's for a long time!

Will - I love that man but sometimes I wanted to shake him! Yes, he can be a little bit of a jerk and just as surly as Olivia, but he's actually very honorable and tries to the right thing when it comes to Olivia and what he thinks is best for her, but I was like, "Come on, man! Just give in already!" But no! That man is so stubborn and in control it takes forever for him to crack. I really did love Will though - I both loved and hated how he tried to put Olivia before him, I loved how possessive and protective he was and I truly did connect and relate to him in a way that I didn't with Olivia and I think that's why she's the front runner, no pun intended, for me this time. Will is a wonderful hero and I have no doubts that you will love him!

I'm trying to think of how to describe Olivia and I have a million thoughts about her and I not sure where to start. Olivia's just... Olivia, you know? She's hard but soft, confident but insecure, surly but sweet, and strong but vulnerable. It might seem like she doesn't give a f**k but she does. Olivia is full of contradictions and mystery and even though she's a little rough around the edges, I still loved her, I still cared about her, and she still made my heart ache for her. Olivia is an amazing heroine and I'm so glad I got to know her!

After my friend told me I should check Waking Olivia out, I read the synopsis and I'll admit the whole forbidden aspect of the coach and his runner was pretty much what got me. What can I say? I love me a forbidden romance and while their relationship was forbidden, it wasn't the kind of dirty, naughty romance that you might be imagining at all. I like that, okay, I looove it, but I loved how Will and Olivia's relationship developed even more - it felt more meaningful and special and right.

Waking Olivia wasn't at all what I expected, not that I had bad or low expectations, it was just so much more than I thought it would be and I never would have guessed what happened. It broke my heart, held me in suspense, made my eyes go wide with shock and horror, and it gave my heart a sharp pain when I was so desperate for Will and Olivia to get together and I felt like it was never going to happen, but it also made me laugh and sigh and filled me with anticipation.

Waking Olivia will capture you, demand your attention, and absolutely refuse to let you go sometimes. It was spectacular and I wholeheartedly loved it! I can't wait to see what Ms. O'Roark comes up with next and I hope that she writes about Brendan and Erin!

Waking Olivia is a standalone, it's told from Will and Olivia's POV, and they get their well-deserved, well fought for happily-ever-after!

~ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars
